Shocking photos of the La Paz Carnaval.

BMG - 2-28-2009 at 08:49 PM

The malecon was a maze of extension cords during Carnaval but walking through sidewalk hazards is second nature to most residents. What surprised me was that apparently no one was electrocuted during the event.

Looks all to code,Mexican code:lol::lol::lol:

longlegsinlapaz - 2-28-2009 at 08:57 PM

Where are the meters showing how much they used?? OMG!! Guess what OUR bills are going to look like next billing cycle!

oxxo - 2-28-2009 at 09:10 PM

Looks lke one of my wiring jobs. I use the Better Homes and Garden wiring book.

msawin - 2-28-2009 at 09:19 PM

I think 110 is over-rated.

Actually, we get 135v or 0v normally here at the house.

Paula - 2-28-2009 at 09:29 PM

Now that's some HOT stuff, BMG!

Barry A. - 2-28-2009 at 09:57 PM

------looks like my Uncle's ranch-------------wooooo haaaaa!!!

Loved the one with the two bare wires stuck in the dangling wall outlet---------

Iflyfish - 2-28-2009 at 11:25 PM

What's the problem?

Bajahowodd - 2-28-2009 at 11:44 PM

Seems normal to me. Actually, with no exposed copper, it looks like an upgrade.

vgabndo - 3-1-2009 at 01:44 AM

That is some pretty strong competition for the folks in San Javier. At THAT fiesta I was most impressed by all the wires crossing the street crushed the thousands of strollers between the smashed beer cans and the cobblestones.

Iflyfish - 3-1-2009 at 08:33 AM

I may have told this story. We had a Neurofeedback clinic outside of Queretaro, about $20,000 worth of sensitive electronic equipment, well protected with massive surge protectors, one day blew up! BAM! Went to look for the cause, no ground wire connected at the main source, wire hanging unattached over the post, "act of god" claimed, this at a PREMIER conference facility. Sometimes I just have to shake my head and wonder.

I have seen major office buildings with their telephone wires twisted together on the side of the building like the twisties one uses to close a loaf of bread. Jaw dropping amazing.

One need to remind oneself that these things represent differences, only differences, that and/or sometimes go mad!

Great photos.

What bare wires? That's the adapter.

Only a few spots where the copper was exposed.

:lol: You sound like my uncle! I remember him powering his old service-station-type gasoline pump with old recovered telephone line laying on the ground beside the access road over a distance of at least 400 yards, and it was that way for at least 40 years with no apparent problems----copper showing thru in many places. We routinely drove over the line-------no OSHA there.

-----and my uncle was an Engineer. Go figure-------we often, and especially lately, make mountains out of molehills! :light:

Of course I do, doesn't everyone?

I seem to get myself in trouble when I stray from wiring and/or plumbing photos.

Leo - 3-1-2009 at 12:20 PM

OK that puts it in balance

Woooosh - 3-1-2009 at 12:54 PM

Love the clamato!

My brother in law was electrocuted messing with wires like these.

A gringo nephew who works for the power company stateside almost had a coronory when he saw the power line abuses in Mexico. He really couldn't believe his eyes. It looked normal for us too.

Which brings up another thing.

Is Clamato pronounced in English with the 2nd 'a' like may or ma?

longlegsinlapaz - 3-1-2009 at 01:16 PM

I've heard it as Clam Auto!;)

No, that's condescending B.S.

It represents incompetence.

Shocking

toneart - 3-1-2009 at 02:08 PM

When are you going to break out the "shocking" T & A photos?;)

BajaBruno - 3-1-2009 at 05:08 PM

Good job on that second round of photos, BMG--that's what I came here for!

Bajahowodd - 3-1-2009 at 05:13 PM

CFE or SCE. They do their jobs. It's the idiots after the meter.

The Gull - 3-1-2009 at 05:23 PM

What is as juicy as a clam and squeezable like a tomato?

k-rico - 3-1-2009 at 06:40 PM

Ah yes, and now for the rest of the story, exposed wires and flesh. You're an alert fellow, I probably wouldn't have noticed the bare wires.

ELINVESTIG8R - 3-1-2009 at 06:44 PM

Ay Chihuahua BMG... Hubba Hubba Honcho!

tomAto or tomAUTO?

potAto or potAUTO?

clamAto or clamAUTO?

I haven't won an argument yet defending my long 'A' pronunciation.

elgatoloco - 3-1-2009 at 07:19 PM

Clamato and Tecate together, my favorite Baja health food!

tomAto

clamAto

Well, then may I sweetly:saint: suggest you take it like tall strong man you are & convert to a tall strong A rather than the pretentious sounding auu?:P:lol:

Bajafun777 - 3-1-2009 at 08:51 PM

Picky, Picky, Picky at least the wires had some tape on them. Now, as for the advertising promotional women it looks like they used too much tape, ahhh the simple things in life are still the best????;) BMG, when I go South to fiestas I have a habit of taking pictures of older buildings just sometimes these same type of advertising promotional women seem to get in front of my pictures of these buildings.:saint::biggrin: Later--bajafun777

Almost all of my photos of the parade on the first day have an eyesore building in the background. After looking at Miss Baja California Sur 2008 popping out of her dress, you'll see the building behind her.

That is my point. I say it's clamAto. Everyone I know argues that it's clamAUTO even though they pronounce potAto and tomAto properly.

I can't even win an argument when someone agrees with me finally!

ps - Legs, your descriptions of me are improving. Much better than "hulk".

BajaRacer420 - 3-7-2009 at 03:47 PM

cool

LOSARIPES - 3-12-2009 at 03:37 AM
