mil gracias amigos...thank you all for your birthday wishes...they really cheered me up this morning as I was missing Sirenita who always snuck into
my bed at dawn on my birthday to sing me Las Mananitas!! but she just called so I feel better now...
i am on the road to recovery now...(in more ways than one) feeling a bit chirpier and did a bit of party planning this morning for the weekend affair.
I want to take this opportunity to thank all of the amazing friends we have met through this board for...well....being our friends...you know what I
mean! Life long bonds have been formed...gee I think I'm gonna cry...and the great thing is that we can look forward to meeting more of you in the
years to come too. Wish you were all gonna be here on sunday for the party...but then we'd need more tamales!!!SiReNiTa - 3-3-2009 at 11:50 AM

I think all your birthday wishes healed me today and I was able to go to our secret beach for an afternoon in the hot sun...it was like 90 degrees
here today (pretty weird but wonderful) and i even went for a little swim which made me feel a whole lot better. AND we saw the cutest little coyotito
who just stared at us close to the truck...think he was admiring the Toyota. ...then to top all that off, we went out to pick out our little burrito
out of an amazing heard of 20 burros that had 4 little newborns...way too cute.
how cute are they eh...hoping for the white one and NO we wont eat this one.
nighty night nomads.... I'm gonna turn in early for another birthday treat!!! Guess I AM feeling better all right.

we will make you a belated b-day dinner
BajaVida - 3-3-2009 at 09:05 PM
what do you like?shari - 3-3-2009 at 09:08 PM
BBQ burrrro? kidding...whatever your specialty is! cant wait!!!!! No mole please or mano de leon scallops and water will be fine to drink!
how about
BajaVida - 3-4-2009 at 04:53 AM
blackened fish with red beans and rice
or
teriyaki fish with tempura vegetables
you are probably tired of beer battered fish tacosPaulina - 3-4-2009 at 05:43 AM
Shari,
I want a burrito for my birthday too!!! Please post a photo of your new family member asap!
P<*)))>{shari - 3-4-2009 at 08:18 AM
I'm really liking the sound of teriyaki fish and tempura...feeling nearly ready to eat food other than oatmeal and soba noodles.
Pauline...you should come over and get one of these little suckers and wouldnt one look fantastic in one of your church hats!!!! think of the
possibilities of playing dress up...they are way too cute and make great pets but do need companionship of another animal or you...I hear they are
like a doggie and follow you around if you spoil them and get them at this tender age...we are looking forward to this new pet venture and will be
nice to take little burrito along on those long walks to San Roque to carry the beer!Every Nomad is gonna want one.
Hard to choose between the brown guy, grey or white one.
this guy was a real brave little burro
here is the family
And here is Juanito offering beer and a sandwich to this lady who liked the sandwhich and is mom to the cute little brown burrito...dad is behind and
put on a nice display of burro porn after the sandwich.
We spent an hour with this wonderful herd and well....pretty hard to decide...if anyone wants to see the whole album of burro pics here is the
link...let me know which baby is your favorite.

First a belated Happy Birthday to you shari. I know you cherish your birthdays spent in Baja as I do mine.
Now here's another special 'burro' for you...
...and for you, too, Bajagypsy.
Made to go at the Mulege 'Y'...the famous Burro Torta.
p.s. You also share this birthday with another Nomad...mulege marv. Cheers to both of you!
Sharksbaja - 3-4-2009 at 02:20 PM

Happy Birthday Shari! You don't look a day over 39!Paulina - 3-4-2009 at 09:27 PM
Shari,
I checked out your burrito link, and my very favorite is the adult grey dunn. He/she has zebra like stripes on it's legs and a dark stripe down it's
back. That is my choice, if only it were a little baby. Any chance of any little ones with that same coloring?
P<*)))>{Leo - 3-4-2009 at 10:17 PM
And so the birthday goes on and on.
You are the most popular gall on this forum, Shari.
When is that party?Skip_Mac - 3-5-2009 at 04:30 AM
Shari,
Thanks to you and Juan for your gracious help and introduction to your precious community in Asuncion, may it survive the coming (paved
road...changes). Your local contacts made my stay infinitely more helpful and welcoming. Hope you feel well soon and Juan resolves the silly permit
issues.
My most grateful thanks for your welcome to Asuncion.
Skipckiefer - 3-5-2009 at 07:56 AM
Happy belated birthday and may you have many many more. (insert music note here)shari - 3-5-2009 at 08:08 AM
And the birthday beat goes on (as Nancy sinatra might sing)...I wonder if we can stretch this thread out all month?
Woo hoo...Mulege Marv shares the same birthday...no wonder he is such a party animal!
Paulina...the gorgeous classic Burro DOES have a little one and you can just see his stripes through his baby fluffy fur...he is really sweet
too...they need to nurse another couple weeks and then you can come for him...gotta reserve him though cause lots of nomads are lining up for them
now!!! 500 pesos for non residents.Paulina - 3-5-2009 at 08:59 AM
Shari,
If only I could! I am curious about the laws regarding import and export of equine animals.
Our 5 yr. od Quarter horse horse "Handy" stepped on a 16 penny nail yesterday while being worked at a canter in the round barn. (very mad at the barn
owner) The nail went straight into the navicular bursa. The outlook isn't good.
I planned on him being a forever horse and joining me in Baja for good in 5 years. That is why I'm WAS trying to find the laws regarding taking him
with.
Think good horsey thoughts for him, por favor!
ps. Don't tell Dern about the burrito business. He'll never let me go back to Asuncion!

[Edited on 5-3-2009 by Paulina]shari - 3-5-2009 at 09:09 AM
Oh Paulina, i am soooo sorry for your horse....I have been so broken hearted by losing horses which is why I'm gonna try burros now. I'm sure there
are quarentine laws...guess you will just have to move to baja full time for your burro....you can borrow ours any time....I can see new business
ventures emerging...rent a burro...rent one of these cuties for your vacation...baja kids would LOVE IT!
[Edited on 3-5-2009 by shari]
[Edited on 3-5-2009 by shari]Paulina - 3-5-2009 at 09:17 AM
Shari, funny you should mention that..."se renta burro" would probably work. Guard burros, hang out around camp burros, pack burros for walking
excursions, or just plain driving around with one in the back of the truck like the locals do.
You've got another branch of your business in the making.
A few years ago I tried to rent a burro from a ranch in Bahia. It would have been for my kids to love on for Spring Break. My offer was refused, even
when I raised my price, and finally even asked what they wanted for a ten day loan of the beast.
They said no, because they planned to eat it.
There was more than one burro in the batch so I asked if they could plan their burro feast for after his stay with us and they said no, they were
afraid the burro would become attached and end up liking humans, making it more difficult for them to shoot it.
They probably just thought I was crazy.
P<*)))>{
On edit: Thank you Shari for your good horse thoughts. I knew you would understand.

allright all you threadnappers...lets get back on topic here..enough cute burros (but we will hold Paulinas caballo in our prayers still)
I forgot about this self portrait I took on my afternoon birthday beach party. For so many years a march birthday meant photos in gumboots and
sou'westers so now my baja birthdays mean bikini beach pics although some may dispute I am too....well...lets say....advanced in age....to sport this
type of outfit...but this bikini has special meaning as it was a gift from my favorite bajagypsy!!! gotta love the skulls....I also wear it on day of
the dead. Paulina - 3-6-2009 at 08:57 AM
Great photo! You look great. Even if you think otherwise, who cares what people might say. My rule is, "If they don't like what they see, they don't
have to look twice."
