I don't know but there the best shrimp, there hard to fine in the states.

Here in Chivato area there are NO fisheries enforcement. Open all year

Shrimp season will open the latter part of Sept this year, not sure of exact date, then the Shrimp Festival is usually the first weekend in November.bigmike - 3-3-2009 at 03:20 PM

Still shrimp season over here. We have a huge government run shrimp farm about 20 miles south and they are great. You can actually get them before
they are frozen, unlike off the trawlers (unless you get to the boat right after a set). Nice big blue/white ones. Also farming ostiones but we havent
had them yet.
Calamar Festival coming up in three weeks.................we hear it is better than the shrimp fest.

There has been a movement of sorts over
the last few years, not to sound too high
and mighty, that one should consider
purchasing only panga caught shrimp,
due to the already mentioned trawling
practice of the big boats,
which rubs the sea floor raw.
Much bycatch and habitat destruction
with this method. The shrimp I last
bought in San Felipe was off the
beach from pangeros, the things
were still wiggling
