Heads Roll Again in Tijuana- American Ones

Woooosh - 3-4-2009 at 12:25 PM

we had a few quiet months at least... now the next wave I guess. What do you call a dead narco with no arms, legs or head?... Matt. I was a little surprised at the headline they used. After the state department warning and all the recent media articles- I guess they figure it's ok.

Any hopes for peace south of the border was shattered Tuesday, according to a published report.

Six bodies were found in Tijuana and Tecate, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported. Two teenage girls' bodies turned up south of Tecate's downtown area, three men's headless bodies were discovered not far from the border in Tijuana, and the blanket-wrapped body of a man was found in Tijuana, according to the paper.

Some officials are speculating that the deaths are linked to a string of arrests.

"It would be a likely hypothesis, but we don't yet have the evidence to confirm it," the head of the Baja California Attorney General's Office in Tijuana told the paper.

The three men had been decapitated, according to the Union-Tribune, and their limbs were cut off.

And the comment section at their website took great exception to the headline. Since the article is so spare, what are they basing any connection on between the bodies found in different cities? Especially, if there was no mutilation to the teenage girls. The Tecate part of this might not be related to drug trafficking.

Nattering nabobs of negativity!
I live just north of Oakland. TJ is a breeze, you just drive through, just like Oakland. I wonder why paranoid people always want to leap into the spotlight and share their personal paranoia with everyone else? Seems like a poor adaptation to reality to me. I just deal with it prudently and don't waste my time and emotions on someone else's distant issues beyond my control. Maybe you should try it. I guarantee your life will become more pleasant and other people will enjoy your presence more.

The difference, IMHO, is that Oakland is an armpit that knows and accepts what it is. So does everyone else who passes through it quickly. Oakland has no tourist marketing boards enticing young people to vacation and spend money in Oakland.

TJ is still hopeful it can entice young people to come down and party through marketing and the bame game. It blames the media or americans themseleves for the problems. Now they are saying the USA is badmouthing Mexico and exaggerating crime in order to keep US dollars in the USA.

The crime and dangers are real in TJ, just as they are in Oakland. Only Oakland is too resposnible to bill itself as a perfect youth vacation destiantion. You don't see a difference ?

Does it matter that this headless guy truned out to be a US Citizen who was being held for ransom? It says his family paid the $20K ransom after he was taken from his pizza restaurant FEb 3rd. Still came back headless. Of course he has a past felony conviction for moving prescription drugs across the border- so he will be villified.

stuck on stupid was how mexico got into this mess. It's also the reason they will weather the coming economic storm better than americans and europeans. Mexicans can live poor and happy on rice, beans, tortillas and a chunk of chicken from their local market.... gringos need their Whole Foods Markets and CostCo. The narco mess will be forgotten by the media as side deals are made between the narcos and the government. The violence and army troops don't help the narco business model. Everyone will claim victory and say the cartels are broken up- but in reality it will just change form to more smaller neighborhhod cells who the local police know. They've already killed all the street-level drug criminals in Rosarito Beach- now they are putting their own people in place. There's just too much money changing hands for narcos and the people they support to go without it. What do you expect them to do- get an education and career? JMHO
