But I second Doc's suggestion. You don't want WOOD windows (munch, munch, munch, I can hear the termites now) - go for vinyl. But Doc's doors are

I believe there is an AMSCO window dealer/manufacturer on Reforma across from the Waldo Dollar store and near De Volada Coffee.

I like WOOD. I like the look of it and having an opening that opens completely is important during the hot season. So far, 9 years, no munchers on the
doors and windows. I do use chemicals though about once a year and spray "Home Guard" around the outside and under cabinets several times a year.
There are problems with wood doors & windows though. Swelling is the biggest pain. Screens, on mine are one piece and removable but a bit of a
pain when you want to close the windows. All my doors and windows open out, it helps some during the major storms here to keep water out. The local
craftsmen here are giving really good prices now. And for an older block building matching the opening is easier with wood. Just my 2¢rob - 3-9-2009 at 09:15 AM
Bajadock - did you get your vinyl windows from the same place as Bajaguy mentions? (AMSCO) Or can you tell me where you got yours?
I am making a trip up to San Diego to collect a replacement kitchen cabinet for one eaten by termites and if I take the truck, could probably buy
needed windows at the same time.

We bought vinyl windows and fiberglass doors...
Found most of them at El Cheapo Construction materials just north of Colonia Guerrero (east side of street).
Most of what they carry is used or ordered for a project and never used... so finding just what you're looking for is iffy, but as an example, we
found 8' thermopane glass/fiberglass french doors which we love and most of the thermopane sliding windows required for our house. Thus far we have
not been disappointed and they seem to be holding up well. Now if I could just figure out a way to keep my door hardware from having to be replaced
