Colonia Herradura in TJ?

nancyinpdx - 3-10-2009 at 03:51 AM

Is this a good safe neighborhood in TJ? I saw an ad for a new house for a pretty good price, so I was wondering.

no

Thanks, Woosh, for letting me know.

What's your opinion about Colonia Juarez? I lived there a few months when I was very 'green' to TJ and it seemed kinda mixed- good parts and bad parts kinda close to each other sometimes, and lotsa dogs that thought gringa flesh looked particularly tasty. I'm amazed one never bit me tho they sure loved snarling and following me and nearly slobbering on my legs and heels! My apartment was in a gated Mexican, not gringo complex but had gringo prices and although safe, the apts were not kept up very well. The owners and their dogs were horribly annoying and way outta line too.

i want to know which TJ neighborhoods are safest/decent and which ones are ones to avoid living in.

i think it was apts carrillos or something like that. I don't know my old address or street names. It was about half a mile or less uphill from abarrote (sp) guero a block after a green bldg papeleria and maybe 3 blocks before a small tienda and close to some communication towers.
Honestly, I liked the neighborhood and felt safe there when on the main drag where I lived. No buses, tho, and very few taxis went up the hill. I lost weight and got in much better shape walking up and down that extremely steep hill nearly every day! : )
