Need some suggestions please. Planning on going down for the Caminata Contra el Cancer on the weekend of March 21st. Haven't been to S. F. since '90 so would really appreciate some insight on hotels.

I have stayed a couple times at Motel El Capitan, including last November. It is one block from the malecon on Calle Mar de Cortez. Decent, not fancy; reasonably clean and quiet; plenty of secure parking. I believe it was around US$50 for a double, but I think the prices vary a bit with the day of the week and the season.

Second the El Capitain suggestion,
depending how much you want to spend,
El Cortez on beach, possibly $80 plus,
El Pescador on Malecon approx. $65,
there is a campground, 5 blks no. of
center of town, called Kiki's, has decent
rooms maybe $45

Kiki's is a fantastic spot. It is on the beach a few blocks north of the lighthouse, is quiet, has security, and is run by a wonderful guy....RV spots w/ hookups, clean and spacious rooms, and off the gringo track a bit...

I'll third the El Capitan. Try a steak at the El Nido south of the El Cap a couple of blocks.

Another motel that is north of town near El Dorado Ranch is Baja Palms. It is ran by gringos and is a descent place for the pesos

If I were going to San Felipe I would rent a house or condo at El Dorado Ranch.
