A Very Special Rose--NOW FADING PINK

In the middle of town, roses grow quite well, but not so in our windy, salty dunes---it is a real challenge. So when this one grew and produced this flowever, it was very special to us.

Tis not like the fancy hybrid patented roses in the states. It is much smaller, delicate, and the retains the wonderful fragerance of the old roses.

It reminds me of a tequilla sunrise! Beautiful, I can almost smell its soft scent.

The smell of old roses...something that is rare to come by now a days, at least in the rose circle I cruise in. That smell reminds me of being a kid in my Grandmother's rose garden. That is a beautiful shot, thanks for sharing.

Those dry leaves will make beautiful potpourri and you can continue to enjoy them for a long time!

Thanks everyone---really glad others appreciate the purity and beauty of the old fashioned roses---potpourri--great idea.

This tiny rose plant has struggled so much to survive, but now has an official name Tequilla Sunrise--- :yes:

I love the composition and lighting. Beautiful contrast with the black background. Light shining through makes it look like it is illuminated from the inside. Offsetting the image makes it pop. Nice shot!

Thanks for the info Don---love roses and we are struggling with two other ones---keeping my fingers crossed.

Actually, this rose looks more orange in the picture---the lighting etc. ---need to re process it when I go back to the states. It is yellow with pink edges and is turning more pink as it fades.

I took more pixs of it today along with some more wildflowers---will post them later.

I played a bit with your beautiful rose. But the tip colors didn't come out very strong.

Now fading---on my home computer, the change to pink shows well and it is much lighter and very delicate. ---looks REAL DARK on this very old monitor and computer at the internet cafe. :fire:

It is fading and as it does, it turns more and more pink.

As excited as I have been over this one rose, imagine what will happen if the other two bushes survive and produce more! :lol:

would be silly to buy a new monitor or laptop screen and expect it to give good colors. all monitors (incl laptop screens) need to be calibrated to yield accurate colors and brightness. you can buy a calibration device/software for $50 to $75.

Nice Skipjack!! Diane, in your last pic, that is when the fragrance gets really full and heady.I too love roses.I have one that I planted in my front yard three years ago.It has been saved, as my SO has been killing all of my coleus, flowering ground cover, and everything else, so he can plant vegies in our tiny front yard.( and he sprays them with Miracle gro).I wanna kill (well not really)him, but it gives him something to do, and a sense of helping out our oh-so fragile economic instability!!I would LOVE to see Don Jorges' roses!(hint- hint)BTW, roses are the flower for Geminis', which would be me. :biggrin:

Goat, it would be nice if the internet cafe would either buy new monitors or calibrate them, but fat chance----especially now that business is not good.
