We and about 100 of our South Campos neighbors went into town yesterday for Tech inspection. The turnout was as big as ever. After a shift on the
Malecon and Miramar we headed to the Barefoot Bar @ the Cortez. Lots of horsepower there. Brian Collins, Mark Post, Ed, Jerrry, Tim, and Troy Herbst
were in the house. Ed let me trade my red shirt that he gave me 2 years ago for some new black ones. We are headed into town shortly to watch the

Listening to Desert Bull/ Dirtnewz live from the finish line.
I watched as Robby Gordon crossed in second place... just a cloud of dust is all the web cam shows... then the live feed crashed soon after...

I'm waiting for the drama that might come from R.G. taking a "creative short cut" from the course. I heard at one point that he may have missed a
check point. Some concerned people took video of his creativity (cheating), and his tire tracks. I'm sure DB will have the whole story.
Thanks DB for the live feed. I felt like I hung out with WB and LN in the back seat of their truck for the day and most of the night.
It was fun.

After the race , we pitted at home and headed to El Centro at O dark 30 Sunday morning. I had to pick up supplies for the St Paddys corn beef and
cabbage dinner that I am cooking for 80 @ the Community Center.
We watched the race from RM 167 across from the Wilson pits and just before Baja Pits. The weather was great and the breeze carried the dust away from
us. Brian Collins was the first truck by us. Lots of BBQs going and we did filettes and game hens, potato salad and baked beans.BajaWarrior - 3-16-2009 at 04:19 PM

we were out at Checkpoint 5 just below "Geoff's Hill" in the wash.
Saw the first truck come through the whoops and then he went up that hill like it wasn't even there...
Thanks for your coordination efforts for our fish and shrimp from Coty, the deal went perfect and it fed a hungry group.
Saw you heading south on the highway as we were traveling home Sunday afternoon, we were pulling the big flatbed with a jetski on it.
Will be back in a few weeks for a longer period of time, we'll have to tip a beer together.

The wife and I helped organize and pit for the first ever Locos Mocos race effort (#603) in Baja and it was terrific. The guys came in second in Class
6. The official SCORE flag man is the dad of one of our drivers, so he got to flag his son into the finish. So cool. Along the way they only suffered
a broken driveshaft and two bad stuck situations. One of our co-drivers, a former EMT, helped with the COPS camera guy who got hit by a Class 1 at
the top of the course. It was one exciting day. Below is the race report from Baja Jones:
Koenig Racing San Felipe Report from co-driver Baja Jones.
A picture perfect post card 75 degree San Felipe morning greeted us as we staged for the 22nd running of this world famous event. The impeccably
prepared number 603 Koenig Racing / Total Chaos Unlimited V6 truck appeared confident as we waited our turn to leave the line.
I was thinking the first 65 miles of the course were huge vertical faced woops and I better relieve myself now. I was wearing a catheter so I just
stuck my left foot in a planter on the sidewalk and was grinning like a Cheshire cat when Albert Solorzano (SCORE Class 11 champion) stopped by to
wish good luck...
So I shook his hand and wished him back and must have shuffled my feet just a bit cause when I walked away my left sneaker kind of made a squishy
sound every time I took a step. Hmmm
We left the start line at around 10:30 and I wish I had a bunch of stuff to write about our adventures but the Koenig Racing / Total Chaos 603 sucked
up all the San Felipe desert had to throw at us.
Mike Koenig runs a stock Toyota 3.0 in the race truck so at 160 horsepower we were at a disadvantage on power. The 602 of Heide Steele pulled up lame
before race mile 20 and we waved as we passed. The Total Chaos suspension and Mike's "save the truck" driving style proved to be the key to the day.
The 604 entry blazed past us a half hour later the 604 blazed past us a half hour later the 604 blazed past us.....I heard they put it on the strap
around RM130.
Steele got back in it but was down on time. Mike stayed on his plan, we ran flawless until we buried it on a silt hill around RM 114 and the 604
blazed past us....
A passing chase truck snatched us out and we were underway in minutes.
RM 122.5 we did a scheduled driver change and fuel at Baja Pits #3. Manyo runs a great pit and the Total Chaos / Locos Mocos guys were there to
insure all went as planned!
We chose to use the Baja Pits full service option. They hauled fuel and dump cans allowing our high speed Total Chaos Equipped chase crews to remain
flexible in case of emergency.
Troy "Boofay" Robinson took over the helm with Tim "Lamont" Shrader as co piloto. They lost the drive shaft on a rock in Matomi Wash that put them
down for 7 minutes. We splashed them 5 at RM196 shortly after which they got stuck on a soft sand uphill. Mark “BCG1” Naugle in his Total Chaos
equipped 4X4 was dispatched to the scene, he strapped them up and they were back underway in no time for the final leg on their way to the second
place finish.
