This is the first time I have seen these birds. There were hundreds of them along the shore at Ojo de Liebre.

NICE squadron shot, Ken! No wonder man had to fly...

I cant remeber the year but it was around 1992-3 that we first saw skimmers in Ojo de Liebre...we thought they were lost as we'd never seen them
before. But looks like they discovered and loved the lagoon as more and more came every year and are there every year now...a stunning...noisy
bird...my how they chatter on the beach!

These skimmer shots, Ken.... Roger is right, no wonder man had to fly. They make me want to stand out on my high deck, arms spread wide, waiting for
the Pacific breeze to lift me into the clouds to soar! Perfect morning shots. Thank you, amigo.

Skimmers do a special behavior... flying low over the ocean with their beak partially in the water. I have never seen this behavior in any other near
shore bird. Terns, seagulls and pelicans all dive, but don't skim in my experience. Yeah, If I could do that and get dinner....what a rush!
