Sitting here this morning watching MSNBC's coverage of the administrations evolving Mexico policy ~ and listening to Secy. of State Clinton's reasoned
comments about the situation (which I must add... I'm surprised by).... AND simultaneously reading a couple of the storys on http://www.thetruthaboutmexico.com/ .
... A good collection of articles about the real Mexico.... the Mexico that I love and plan to spend much more time in ~ golfing, sailing, kayaking,
fishing, running & biking, and creating a family home in !
Most of the narco crap in the news is being pinned on Mexico, but I believe the responsability lies as much ~ on the US, where the demand for the
drugs is, where the consumption of the drugs is, where the dollars are provided which support the "trade", and where most of the guns are coming from.
My hope is that all the dialogue and policies evolving right now will lead to improvements...

Thanks for the link. I found it refreshing and thought provoking. We live in what is now called a 24hr news cycle and that means a need to generate
"news" 24/7. News with out drama does not sell air time.
This site provides a useful counterpoint to the mainstream media's take on the situation.
The narco/drug problem is real, as is the violence in East Oakland, Chicago etc. It is wise to know where to go and not to go and that applies to
everywhere.
I watched Anderson Cooper's piece on the Border a couple of nights ago. There were some interesting statistics provided. One out of six people in the
USofA have used marijuana in the last month. The estimated value of marijuana trade coming out of Mexico is 60 BILLION dollars US a year. That is not
taking into account the fact that wine grapes now rank behind marijuana as California's major cash crop. Ditto for Oregon and perhaps Washington State
also. This is at least some indication of the significance of the issue of marijuana use in the USofA.
The problems are real as are the battles between the Cartels and the Government of Mexico and now also the USofA. If not dealt with this issue could
well result in a serious erosion of the power of the state.

Actually, i lived on 30 street in normal heights and on adams st., i had a shop...not exactly scum, but scum did come and steal just about everything
in sight from both places. in lajolla, there is major thievery on a larger scale.
in la mision, people leave everything out, even their generators, lovely lawn furniture, and then go off for weeks at a time. there's the

also, i just met a man who has lived in rosarito for 5 years and he said he has never had one incident...who knew?
