I understand there was an eyewitness report that some school kids (male and female) were seen running from the area just before the fire started.Leo - 3-31-2009 at 08:56 PM
Today I went to the sight and spoke with the caretaker. There seems to be about 50 hectares destroyed. The roof of his homestead was burned and the
fire came close to the old mansion in the middle.
The day it happened, March 26, was a quiet morning and he, the care taker was called away to Pescadero and when he came back after half an hour the
flames were everywhere. The wind pushed it inland and by evening it dyed off. The bomberos could not do anything.
14 years ago there was a fire near the parking and walk-way to the beach. It has recovered and so will this as long as the developer is not going to
buldoze everything down for the golf course and what have you they are planning to build there.
I took a series of pictures, but just can't get them down to acceptable size for this medium.
