not too late to see the whales in GN

wow, a first for us and absolutely incredible... we hooked up with marios whale tours and had our doubts due to timing and then weather today. very overcast and water was choppy but we were able to touch the mamas and babies repeatedly. muy llena y contento. really an emotional experience.

juan, our capitan has been doing this for 20+ years.

i'd leave photos, but can't figure it out. :)

Fantastic---glad you found it that way. No matter how many times we go out with the whales, it is always special.

Pictures. If you have them reduced in size on photobucket, then you need to put the cursor on the picture you want to share, copy the last box, the image tags, and then paste it into your post. U2U if you need further assistance --- want to see your pictures

If you are using Windows XP, go to Power Toys and download the image resizer---then it is easy to resize your pictures

Then right click the picture and resize---I use the medium size usually---it creates a copy of your original. Then upload that resized picture to photobucket.

Great pix. The truth is that it is always a crapshoot as to being able to pet whales. Consider yourself fortunate. As I understand it, the whales return on a three year schedule. So, you might go there next year and get skunked. We've been going to the whales for the last decade, both GN, and San Ignacio. We've had tactile contact about 60% of our visits. That being said, we have always enjoyed our trips, what with the great folks who operate the hotels and the restaurants.

glad you enjoyed them. yeah, it was pretty amazing. we were with a group of school kids (the best from each class) and half the fun was watching their experience.
we had been petting the last pair for several minutes when the captain said we needed to leave. that was an indicator of the success of trip in that we actually pulled away from interaction.
recommend the hotel las bellenas. friendly, clean. and the folks at marios restaurant were great (just as you enter town on mexico 1). sad, a huge beautiful place with little business.

that is great news...good for you...this time of year your best bet was at the mouth of the lagoon where Marios went as the moms and babies from the other lagoons are passing by now...saw my first pair here a few days ago...wonderful!

Being out there with those children had to be fantastic---

Las Ballenas is where we also stay in Guerrero Negro---really nice family.

i checked out your photos last night... seems you've found heaven?

fyi... we need cheap, clean, dog friendly motels heading south. recommendations welcomed. :)

if we stay in san ignacio, i think we'll try the place that is/isn't dog friendly depending on who you do business with.

tanka is making lots of 'friends' - all skinny. so we have food parties, throwing a chunk to tanka, a chunk to friend... i'd probably have more stray dogs than i could feed if we ever landed down here.:spingrin:

Thanks---Those are old photos--we do love Bahia Asuncion.

If for some reason, Hotel Posada does not work for you, the Baja Oasis on the highway also takes dogs. We stayed there once---in some ways nicer, but felt too much like Bates Motel for us---besides, we like being in town.

Just remember to ask for Antonio at Hotel Posada and remember the hot water is on the right and takes a long time. :lol:

Yes, it is difficult to not adopt more dogs---
