SPRING BREAKERS

fishingmako - 4-6-2009 at 01:38 PM

I really haven't seen anything on the Spring Break action around, such as ROSARITO BEACH, AND SAN FELIPE.
For you people who live in these areas it is my curiosity of what the happenings maybe. I just was curious is there a lot of spring breakers in these areas? or is it really quiet?
Would someone let me know what the action is if any?

The newspapers NOB killed the spring break for San Felipe. Hotels were reserved and then canceled and moved to Palm Springs as it is so "unsafe" to be in Mexico. As this is the start of Semana Santa, the town will be filling up with nationals who come here each year. It's a bit wilder than spring break ever was.

See the article in the link attached. Sounds like Rosarito and Ensenada are down significantly. Cancun and other destinations further south are down but not as much.

I was in Rosarito/Ensenada for the last two weeks (a successful househunting trip) and nothing was happening. Papas and Beer was dead, no one on the dancefloor. The restaurants were closing early. The streets were mainly locals and vendors. Pretty sad state of affairs.

Maybe they'll write a book about it - "The Day Without a Gringo."

Too quiet...... no business..... too nice.... rather have the crazy gringos strip drink.... for a few days...

fishingmako, I wass in san felipe this past weekend, and my brother in law was talking to a fisherman, about springbreak, and the guy said, that this year was going to be slow, plus he said that American tourist don't like to go when there is alot Locals or nationals, and yes the malecon was full on the weekend but 80% off it where locals...

Don't think it's just Mexico. I went to visit friends in Laughlin over the weekend, saw mostly old folks on scooters with oxygen tanks at the casinos, and very little activity on the river, even by the dam. Young folks must have stayed home.
