Hey Jose,

how long was your border wait at Tecate, it looks like it's at the two hour mark...

bajalou - 4-7-2009 at 06:18 PM

I try to have lunch at El Minuto at least once a week, sometimes twice. Great food.

El Minuto us half a block north of Chetamul on the street between the big liquor store and the Red Lobster restaurant/hotel. 100 yards before the sign on the wall "rooms by the day or hour".

I had lunch there today, - carne en su jugo - muy sabrosa

Ey Jose...:(
what time of day and what day was the two hour wait?:o
Only once in several years the traffic started on the uphill side of the hill. On Sunday mornings at 10-noon I usually stop about 100 yards on the other side of the hill, and most times about about 30 cars from the checkpoint.

Udowinkler, I got to the border around 4:10pm and got across at 6:00pm, the line was right after you make the turn from the main road, this was on last Sunday

Bajafun777 - 4-8-2009 at 08:32 PM

Bajacat, I been in that line before on a Sunday afternoon about 1pm. I have found if you get up and cross Tecate before 8am you are in a much shorter line. My buddy has lived there for about 26 years and is now retired down there but still pulls out back to El Centro in Winter as he cannot stand the cold. He says he crosses the border on Tuesdays in the mornings and no traffic. I hate that hill as a border crossing due to cars stalling and rolling backwards towards your vehicle. When I go down now to see him I take my motorcycle and then it is sooooooooo easy crossing and getting around. I cross right where the concrete blocks are just as you get to the gate to where the American Custom Inspectors are. YeeeeHaaaa and it really gets the cars people looking mad but I know their mothers love them. Take care-------------- bajafun777

Don't take a city car to do a 4by job, while looking for the road to Punta Estrella we past by the entrance and dindn't see it , so we took a side road, it was a good hrad pack and suddently it turn in to soft sand, I was able to see on my rear view mirror that my sister stop, well to make a long story short, she got stuck , we lower the air preasure and din't work. So off came the strap, I pull her out, park her car on the road, and left it there, we all continue in my, truck. So how much of you guys had to change your plans because your budies or fam didn't have a 4x4 vehicle.

PS, she drives a 2007 ASPEN..

Jose... more air out and it will work... it looks like they are flat that's why a good tire gauge is so important (10psi-8psi).

Great picture!! I loved this restaurant on BajaLou's suggestion. Very low-key, quiet, and it felt like I was eating in someone's home.
