I am heading down to the Casa on Thursday and I have read several articles that mentioned that the traffic is awful. Can anyone tell me how bad it
is?
Are we talking about a bunch or cars or are we talking bumper to bumper.

....And, on top of that, there is construction on Mex 5 for about 15 miles north of town...you get off the pavement onto a dirt road that is too
narrow for two lanes of traffic and you get slowed down a bunch!
I wouldn't go near the place until everyone goes home to sleep it off.

I go down every two weeks and the construction is only about 5 miles at last check a few weeks ago, but that is not my concearn. I am taking my 80 yo
plus parents down and for as many years that I have been going down I don't know if I have been down for Easter??

you might want to take a look at this,, it is posted on Kats Corner ,,,, I have been many years ago to san felipe during spring break,, not good, way
to young for me,, but if you live out of town and can stay close , you might not have a problem,, but read what Kats says,, they except 80,000 ppl
during this time

AVOID this week at all costs! People who live in the area leave for this week to avoid the noise, people, & traffic. If one likes or can tolerate
this CHAOS, then come down. I understand the local's tradition of escaping to the beaches on this holy week and the local venders' making money. But
man, it's just too much! Plus it takes weeks if not months for for the local environment to get cleaned up.

I am presently in San Felipe and have been here since February.
The town
is quite quiet this year due to the economy and the bad press about Mexican travel. 
I went into the main part of town yesterday and see that even Samana Santa(Holy Week) and college spring break has not increased the crowds as much
as in years past. Easter season is when this town usually makes its money, this year they will be hurting. I see several businesses have closed for
good already.

All hell breaks loose Friday night. Town remains a filthy mess for a few weeks.

We are still coming down, but made the decision to leave the folks home.
Any suggestion when to come back on Sunday?

If you get to the East Port (New Port) by 8am you will be ok crossing and if you had a Sentri the old port by 11am. Ahhhhh, if you do not have a
Sentri life can really be a drag at the border crossings everywhere on the Mexican border. Now, I know some here say that Spring Break is a mess
but if those that have been going down to Baja since they were in high school, college and little afterwards were to tell the truth they broke their
necks getting down there. I know I paid my dues playing, parties, more beer than I care to remember and females acting badly with us and others just
made the trip real good. Sadly most could not even remember who they were with a week later, ahhh youth use it or lose it, play hard and then play
harder as these will be your days to do it. Later----bajafun777

Man, did I tell a big fib. San Felipe was a complete nut house this Easter weekend. Traffic was horrendous, gas lines, wall to wall people on the
beaches and empty store shelves. Yesterday, Sunday, traffic northbound was being escorted in large groups by Policia. Sorry about that comment that SF
was dead a couple of days ago by me.

Although I don't spend much time in town during Semanta Santa, I did go through town a few times and it seemed to be about the same as usual, except
much more police presence.
