Going down to My house in Gongaza last week I was pulled over in Mexicali "speeding" , cars in front and beside me ,but iI was the chosen one. The cop
asked if I knew where the police station was . I did not (have been going to Gonzaga for 30 years never a ticket or a need to go to the police
station)He took me off the main street and the negtiation began I payed the $50 dollars and left thinking it was the price for going to Baja . But the
more I thought about it the madder I got . The next time I go south I would like to have the address and have a Map of mexicali to the police station
and not give in . Can anyone give me the address for the station and a site of a good map? I think if the traveler has more info the less likely to
pay the morida.

It's the right thing to do, march right into the cop shop and tell the jefe about the corrupt bozo you encountered, i'm sure he will look into it
immediately.

Next time, tell the cop "Let's go!"... if you were not speeding, do not pay the cop... at the station the fine would have been closer to $10... The
cop would let you go if he was in the wrong... Read other Nomads' stories.

A friend of mine got stopped on the river road a few weeks ago. He told the cop let's go and the cop led him to the station. They put his car in a
locked lot and escorted him inside. 40.00 later he got his car back.

Because the cop was probably the jefe as well.

The main police station is near the Plaza de Torros/Centro Civico area behind the Crown Plaza Hotel.
I'm not sure of the actual address or street name.
But on the map link bellow the Crown Plaza hotel is on the main street with a pool. The police station is just behind this. It is on the corner
between the big building - which is a "mall" mostly converted to office space and the swimming pools)

This may actually be the courthouse... I'm not really sure; but, just look for all the people standing out front with AR-15's etc.

On a tourist map there is a icon for a police station on Lazaro Card##as Blvd west of lopez Mateos but no address .I told the cop I would follow him
but he wanted me to go 2 blocks turn right look for the station . when I was lost he pulled me over again from the map he sent me in the wrong
direction . that is why I would like an address and map.

On the map I posted a link too, the major road running NNW to SSE is Lopez Mateos; however, the nearest major cross street is Independencia (the
street the turns and runs right next to the Plaza del Torros.)
Lazaro Card##as is farther south. Lopez Mateos "flys" over Lazaro Card##as with a large overpass right near Walmart/SamsClub/Vips and the large grain
silo.
I've never seen a police station in that area; although, I've seen a lot of people pulled over on Lazaro as it is a favorite speed trap. There is a
fire station at the location you suggest on Lazaro.
I'm not down in Mexicali so I can't really go check it out for you, otherwise I would. However, in my experience almost all government buildings
(state and national) are located in the Centro Civico Area which is west of Lopez Mateos @ Independencia.
My word of advice is to drive slower than the traffic around you - which will still put you over the speed limit almost anywhere in Mexicali.

I may go down this week and I will post the address when I get it. I have been going to Mexicali a lot and always drive slower than posted speed. I
find not putting a target on me helps but with over a million people maybe they just haven't gotten to me yet

I've got to go to Mexicali today and it won't be too much out of the way to go cross town on Independencia. I'll see what I can see.
