My trusted neighbor here at Playa Posada Concepcion said his boat was boarded by the Mex Navy off the point for the sole reason to inspect fishing
licenses. What happened to the Good Ol' Days????roundtuit - 4-13-2009 at 08:39 PM

as long as they put equal pressure on the commercial fleet in regards to seasons, open areas , and limits, i'm all for it...who cares?...$5 a month
for using this piece of water?...i think i can find the cash.Pescador - 4-14-2009 at 09:23 AM
Not only that but they prefer that you have a name on your boat so they can write it down for the area and know that you have shown all the proper
paperwork. Mario at the PESCA office said there will be no second chance to get paperwork done, they are going to start confiscating boats who do not
have registration or fishing licenses.Russ - 4-14-2009 at 09:46 AM

Mulegena, I can see the entrance to Concepcion and quite away down the out side and nothing for a couple of weeks now.Bob and Susan - 4-14-2009 at 01:02 PM
same thing here...no longliners for the last couple of weeks
the marinos have been around in the water
and
the army stops by a couple times a week with about 20 soldiers
security is "tight"Cypress - 4-14-2009 at 01:17 PM
Regarding the absence of commercial trawlers, seiners, and long liners in the Mulege/Bay of Concepcion area. They're not gonna be working areas that
don't produce. They've got to make a profit.CaboRon - 4-15-2009 at 01:41 PM

Are you saying the Bahia de Concepcion is fished out ?Cypress - 4-15-2009 at 02:48 PM
CaboRon, Yes. With luck you can catch a few Pinto Bass, Triggerfish , etc. for a fish fry. But, the days of plenty are over. Grouper, pargo, other
reef fish in any numbers have been gill-netted into oblivion. Might return if given a chance. If given a chance?Pompano - 4-15-2009 at 03:00 PM
One could never 'fish out' Conception Bay by angling.
But one can net, drag, dive, and scour the Bay of any marine life.
The number of tourists seen hauling shrimpers, trawlers or hooka pangas down the highway still remains at zero. Damn sneaky how they keep appearing
as if by magic.Cypress - 4-15-2009 at 03:57 PM
The tourists are lucky enough to catch anything. 24/7 year 'round gill-netting with hookas and everything else by the locals guys have taken their
toll.
