These are wonderful, pappy.

I especially like the ones in the canyon with blue palms. And the reflections in that still water are really wonderful.

Looks as though you had a marvelous trip.

I can't get the darn thing to load - and I'm most curious to see. Suggestions?

I also thought I was having trouble getting it to load---saw the little box showing it was loading, and then nothing. Then I found it along the bottom bar on my screen.

It is well worth finding. Really nice photos and looks like a great trip.

Try this.

Point your browser to http://bushrat.hdcruisers.org
Right click on the file bajamar2009.pdf
Save the file to your computer, but remember where it saved it.
Navigate to the file and open the PDF.

Most of the time the file opens inside your browser. This PDF is a full screen show and saving, then opening takes the browser out of the picture.

I didn't travel as much as I usually do. Locations were:

- Matomi Canyon, the green blue palm canyon
- Berrundo Canyon, the granite blue palm canyon
- La Turquesa Canyon, pools
- Ensenada Alcatraz, squid carnage

I was asked to not give the location of the rock art.

They're wonderful pictures - looks like a great trip.
I've always enjoyed your flower pix - and this time I especially liked those beautiful blue/yellow babies.

What causes the squid (and apparently a large fish) to beach themselves that way - is it normal?

I asked the same question to our Aquarium Manager when I came home. She thought they might have been chased onto the beach by a predator ... shark, fish, dolphin, etc.

The blue flowers were a bush lupine.

Some species of squid die after laying their eggs. Depending on tides and currents large numbers can wash ashore. It is common to encounter such smelly jetsom on many Baja beaches.

Not all of the squid that hit the beach were dined upon. If I remember correctly around 34 or them hit the beach, and 11 swam back out. The remaining 23 were feasted by the gulls.

In July, 2004 the beach at Bahia las Animas was littered with squid and fat pelicans eating all they could!

My kids each had a photo op with this fellow who just swallowed almost more squid than he could fit... I don't think he could fly, if he wanted to!

Jon, I just showed you slides to Baja Angel... so beautiful... the part of Baja that is so special (IMO jdt)!

Elizabeth really liked the fig tree photo!

I have only been to Yubay once (in 2001)... and it was in July.. very hot! Mike Humfreville, El Camote, Desert Rat, my kids and I... So we didn't get to crawl around the caves or explore above the tinaja... Next time!!!
