caught the last half have of a show on two shipwrecked men on a island in the midrift area. the show was filmed north of bay of la above la gringa because you could see smith island off there camp. anybody catch the show as they didnt mention what island they were actualy on. reminds me of several years ago me and the wife pulled into a cove on one of those islands and saw a man and his son running towards us with waveing arms. he said he paid a local to leave him and his son for a week so they could hang out and explore, fish, and snorkle the area. he had ran out of water the day before and the boat wasnt due till 2 more days. we gave him and his son 2 gallons of water and a few beers and called in on the radio for the guy to come out and pick them up. it just shows you how fast things can go from haveing a great time to dume without planning things out and bringing extra amounts of food , water and a hand radio..

Interesting photo of the partially sunk boat. I wonder how much would be exposed if there was an outboard weighting down the back.

I have often wondered just how "floatable" my Valco Bayrunner Baja would be if it suffered a catastrophic hull failure (like a deadhead puncture) There is lots of foam under the deck, but that Honda outboard is heavy.

Old Animal Planet - should have been entitled "Too Stupid to Live" or Culling the Gene pool for the Good of Mankind" - Shows what can happen when you're idiots and totally unprepared - Boat in Photo is an old boat that the military in Bahia de L.A. had found floating many years ago and a high tide finally floated it off of the beach and it sank on Isla Bota, just off shore last year. Nothing to do with the film. FYI

There was an episode of "I Should'nt be Alive" that was filmed down in BOLA. They were reenacting an account of two guys who tried to sail their Hobie Cat across the gulf to the mainland side, but were overweighted and capsized in a west wind. They were marooned on La Guarda for several days and were eventually rescued by a panga fisherman.
I believe they filmed the episode just north of La Gringa. Graham MacIntosh gave a summary of his involvement with this production in his latest book - Marooned with Very Little Beer.

There should be a label on the transom.
