Anyone know the story?

Does anyone know the story behind this huge lady alongside the road? We found her shortly after passing that huge statue of Christ as we were headed south on the toll road.

Methinks you get the Grand Prize for Roadside Art.

Outstanding, Don't miss going to the blogspot at the bottom of the page.

It's possible that someone is expressing their displeasure over that huge statue nearby. Face it. Art is art. But to some, this would appear obscene.

There was a story about the artist and his mermaid house in the Gringo Gazette a long time ago. Don't remember the details, but it was an interesting article.

The artist was living or is planning to reside in the head of this beauty, the eyes were of course, the windows. Anatomically speaking that would make this a two bedroom?

Ok - after some scratching since Paulina mentioned it as the mermaid house, I found these two articles....

Casa de Mujer

The British Discovery Channel chose Garcia's house as the most bizarre house of the world in 2003.

I just saw a documentary on TV about strange buildings, and they showed this:

In Mexico, a Sculptor has built this amazing house in the shape of a woman’s naked body — and sleeps behind one of her BOOBS.

Madcap Armando Munoz Garcia put the bathroom in her bottom and the living room in her tummy. The 48-year-old started building the shapely property 12 years ago — and in that time it has become a huge hit with locals. Its living room, complete with TV, has a hot tub where her womb should be; with a mermaid carved on the floor and is decorated with Armando’s paintings.

The three-storey building stands at the corner of a street on a hillside in Rosarito, Mexico. Armando, who shares the house with girlfriend Isabel Magana, said he built the magnificent home because he loves sex. Asked why he slept behind the right breast, he said: “Maybe because I like them.”

The bedroom is ample enough for a double bed and sofa. The house, which even has a swimming pool around the waist and a patio, will be finished when Armando completes the head. He plans to fill her head with a telescope and his office, he also wants to give the woman long curly hair.

The house, which has a staircase between each floor, is the SECOND naked woman home constructed by Armando. His first was a 50ft building in the Mexican border town of Tijuana — but it has since fallen into disrepair.

Cuddling up to Isabel, Armando said yesterday: “What more can a man ask for?” Should the artist ever decide to sell his pad, he could advertise it as a desirable residence with plenty of charms, a stunning view — and all the bare essentials.

Where is the...ahem...entrance?

elgatoloco - 4-25-2009 at 01:34 PM

This is the third house built by the artist in a similar style.

"You think your eyes are playing tricks on you, but they're not. You are actually looking at a large nude torso of a woman with giant boobs. Believe it or not, she is the home of an artist named Armando Muñoz Garcia. He watches TV in her tummy and sleeps in her ta ta's."

I was going to mention the artists previous work in a gully in TJ but, it was already up there. What wasn't mentioned was a hellacious Santa Ana wind that almost tore the structure apart in, I think, 1999. It did a lot of damage to the whole area. The statue, if I remember correctly, was more upright before the winds gave it a laid-back look. Anyway, I don't know if anything has been done to it recently. It looks just like it did ten years ago.
