Flu - How Baja, Rosarito, is Responding, Pt. II

Gypsy Jan - 4-30-2009 at 03:31 PM

When you go through the toll booths on the pay road, the attendant sorts and places your money in a series of plastic bags.

All incoming money is washed and disinfected.

McNulty - 4-30-2009 at 05:12 PM

wow... i guess its good to see something is being done to prevent the spread... but that almost seems a little overkill

You have got to be kidding. Is that done at the grocery stores and gas stations as well?

Gypsy Jan - 4-30-2009 at 05:32 PM

Not kidding at all.

Hubby went to Rosarito for his blood test today and this is an exact report of how they are handling the cash at the toll booths.

More Mexican smoke and mirrors. They only want the tourist to think they're on the job. What a freakin joke.

fishbuck - 4-30-2009 at 05:38 PM

Man, now you even have to put a condom on your money! This is starting to take the fun out of it!;D

If You Distrust Mexcicans So Much

Gypsy Jan - 4-30-2009 at 05:40 PM

Why are you living here?

The cheap booze pricing?

Trader Joe's in San Diego is competitive.

Because you and I live here, we must believe everything they say and do?
C'mon Jan......pull your head out of that dark, damp, smelly place and see the light. Is the man in the toll booth wearing rubber gloves? He wasn't yesterday when I went through.

Lets strive for consistancy in our efforts.

Dear Durmudgeon Dennis

Gypsy Jan - 4-30-2009 at 06:03 PM

Yes. the toll taker today was wearing a face mask and gloves.

To hell with tourists

If I were working at the toll plaza I'd insist on wearing a mask, gloves and having the money disinfected.

Woooosh - 4-30-2009 at 06:24 PM

If I worked at a toll plaza booth in Mexico I'd shoot myself in the friggin head.

How did you know he wasn't just a common robber? Do you give money to anybody wearing a mask?

Honest Work

Gypsy Jan - 4-30-2009 at 06:34 PM

It is honest work and some of the folks down here have to chose between feeding the family or not.

Sincerely yours. GJ

there are people that live in mexico because expenses are less-- and all the time complain about various things-- including the people-- i believe that they do this because they have such low self esteem that they put the people and culture down in order to feel better about themselves-- and that is sad-- for all involved. its a great country-- and most of the people are fantastic-- just as the US is a great place and most of the people are great-- i'm sure however that many who complain about mexico-- complained about where ever they lived in the US. some people would complain if you hung them with a new rope.

Mexican Aspirations

Gypsy Jan - 4-30-2009 at 07:01 PM

Yes, the Mexican people I know have a poor self image.

However, they aspire to improve themselves and their children and work very hard towards those goals.

this may not be the right thread

woody with a view - 4-30-2009 at 07:02 PM

but i just saw the "news!!!!" and they said 3000 infected and 179 deaths in mexico. all of the infections in the u.s. and 1 death.

are we freaking out over a uncommon flu bug? is this just a dry run for something more grave? the VP of the u.s.a. said he wouldn't fly on a plane and now is backpedaling so hard he seems to be slipping on the ice? is it bad enough that they should close the schools? and for what? i thought the avian flu was the REAL culprit.

get a grip! if you are in good health you should have nothing to worry about. if not, well, this flu isn't the only problem you face on a daily basis..... 99.9 percent of EVERYONE who is infected is surviving it......

this is not the chiit HITTING THE FAN, amigos!

I hope your not going to try and bill us for this psychobabble.

Unfortunately, that's usually the way it works

Thank God I've never been there. It's a dilemma I wouldn't wish on anyone.
