Campo Rene trip pics

Russ - 5-11-2009 at 03:43 PM

Google Earth image of the motel/ restaurant are.

The road in is really nice

Two seagulls courting in front of the Restaurant/Bar

The mangroves (?) in front are teaming with bird life. Like a major rookery. I'm having trouble focusing my long lens or I'd really bore you with some more bird pics. Here are more but not in the best of focus

Now to the Dune & beaches. We put on over 200 miles on the bikes and most of it along the beaches or trails just behind them when available
;)

Awesome pics! thanks 4 sharing.................

Russ - 5-11-2009 at 03:55 PM

I heard it was nice up your way Shari but we froze. Wind to 30mph, foggy and too stormy to fish. I'm hoping to visit you and Asuncion area in late June or July, Aug, Sept. Maybe all of the above. I'm old and the heat here is a bit uncomfortable.

Hey great. Looks like you made it across the salt flats out to "big sandy" at Laguna San Ignacio. Anyone get stuck?

mulegemichael - 5-11-2009 at 04:40 PM

I gotta go! I gotta go!....russ, please stop by our place in the oasis...we're in numero 54...i'll be getting there in a couple of weeks for the annual dorado tourney and will stay two weeks or so..i look forward to your sunrise pics; i see almost the same one from 15 miles south.

Nice photos Russ!

With those cool off road vehicles, you guys could do a serious search for the LOST SANTA CLARA MISSION, very near Campo Rene!

:light::lol::cool:

Russ - 5-11-2009 at 05:50 PM

David, I haven't forgotten about the ruins below San Jose Magdelena. Just haven't been riding out that direction. I've go a folder full of info to take when I do go.

Good times. Reminds me of some great riding 2 years ago with Fishinrich and rts551.

I'm down to counting the weeks til I get back south. Filling water jugs, buying supplies, new line on the reels, buying pesos

About as good as it gets!

I wondered where all the whale ribs went.

msteve1014 - 5-13-2009 at 06:25 PM

That looks like another great trip Russ. I need to get "home" to La Bocana. The quad is crying out to me.:(

4baja - 5-13-2009 at 06:53 PM

thanks for the report russ. reminds me of many years exploring the area there and windsurfing and surfing the area back in the early 80s. thanks for the pics.

Pescador - 5-14-2009 at 09:38 AM

Russ, did you ride over the top or haul the 4 wheelers on a trailer to Campo Rene.
We took the trip through the mission and over the top from San Jose de Magdelena to San Ignacio Lagoon last year and it was fantastic. Up at the very top you can see both the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific at the same time.

Russ - 5-14-2009 at 10:51 AM

Hi Jim,
We trailered over this time. But there is talk of a San Ignacio trip on the "bikes" I won't miss it this time.
