That's pretty lowdown, even for the Army, they should have at the very least waited until he got to the T***y Bar.

woody with a view - 5-19-2009 at 06:42 PM

the turd was probably tipped off and was praying his ass off that jesus would save him.

they should just string him up and make an example......

Where can get that phone number of the military. We should post it on Nomad...

Woooosh - 5-19-2009 at 06:53 PM

They busted dozens of bad guys at a Baptismin party in TJ past year. Huge weapons cache too.

Did you see where the new cartel head for Monterrey was arrested when he landed in his privatre plane to take over the area? These guys aren't even worried about consequences. They operate as kings. If arrested, if prosecuted, if convicted, if sentenced... they are inconvenienced only until their soldiers break them out of prison. These gangs kill everyone in their way, and their families- before lunch.

I guess my answer to that question of whether or not to be a padrina for that quincinera should be no :?:

I'm not sure if this is the one you referred to, but I have this one that I entered into my cell phone memory (and I hope it is correctly recorded here).

011 52 664 685 0297 (that would be from the US)

Drop the 011 and 52 when in MX, of course, making it:

(01) 664 685 0297 MX Army Emergency #. It was posted on many small billboard type roadside signs between TJ and Ensenada.

If someone knows more, or better, please correct.

They should have arrested the preist too ...

You can bet he knew that the guy was cartel ...

And I am sure the church profited from cartel donations :fire:

There you go confusing the all-night Mexican Baptism party with a religious ritual. Baptism takes place here way after the childs birth- years after in most cases. I never have figured that out. I was told the infant mortality rate was so high that the family waits until the childs survival is certain before throwing the event. over time it just becasme the way they do it down here. IMHO the should do a quiet baptism right after birth- just in case. Don't they undestand what a Baptism is? And if they don't, why bother doing it at all... oh yeah, for the party!

:?::?::?:

Woosh, is there no limit to your disappointment with life and the Mexican culture?

Now you have to share your views on how to practice a religion?

Your God must have put you on earth for all of us to follow. Right, huh?

No end to the institutionalized stupidity- that's all. The don't even undersstand the tenants of their own religion and you pick on me? If you are Catholic you would understand the one (soul) reason for a Baptism. Clearly Mexcian catholics do not and my own family does it the Mexcan way- luckily no unbaptized children have died. And yes, I went to Catholic school and can still do Mass in Latin.

One of the tenants (or at least teachings of Christ) was "let he who is without sin, cast the first stone". When will you practice that faith-based tenant on this board? Or is it too uncomfortable to have the mirror facing you? If you were LIVING as you say in the image of Christ and the tenants of the Catholic church and not just wearing it boastfully (like telling us you go to church and can say the Mass in Latin), then you would have far less posts on this board. A man of true religious strength and conviction would not post as you do.

Today is Sunday, why aren't at mass? Start with "Confiteor Deo omnipotenti, beatae Mariae semper Virgini.." and you might get a bit more realism in your faith. Don't forget to strike your heart three times at the right passages, "mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa..."

Now go forth and treat others as you wish to be treated.

Whoooosh, these Nomads are as SOS as the Peasant's, it's a waste trying to explain anything.

Holy Sprinkling

MrBillM - 5-24-2009 at 12:12 PM

Different Religions view Baptism differently.

In many Protestant sects, it is not performed until one reaches the age of reason and can commit to those religious beliefs. That seems to be make more sense than sprinkling a few drops on an infant. BUT, to each their own. It IS a good excuse for a party and that's always welcome in a culture that welcomes a reason, whatever it is.

Yeah Jack, I know... but they do respect the "ask a mexican" guy. I mentioned in a previous post that he had sent me an e-mail about answering my question soon. The question was exactly this one- about the Mexican catholic baptisms.

I hope once The Mexican addresses this- we will have an answer that is acceptable to all on this board. yeah right.

..as soon as the indicator needle moves from being stuck, please let me know. I'll wait at the bar.
