Just pondering a road trip to La Paz. Tips? Travel time? This would be my third road trip into Baja, but my first so far south.
3 Days' Drive Time

... but take longer... you really need time to follow your nose and get lost along the way... frequently.

Actually, it can be done in two long, hard days. That being said, I thoroughly concur with Mulegena. Try stopping along the way. San Quintin, Guerreo
Negro, Mulege. Driving Baja just to make the best time is to miss the charm that is Baja.

Normal driving time is 20 hours. It is usually done in two days for those on a direct route. Leaving SD early in the morning say 5am you can make it
to San Ignacio 860km, the next day to La Paz 1490km.

I've done it:
Leave SD early and make it to Guerrero Negro. Next day it is a straight shot to La Paz.... of course, that is if you want to miss the scenery and all
that.

its 11 to 13 hours to guerrero negro...
its 15-17 hours to mulege...
and another 5 1/2 to 6 hours to la paz from mulege
it'll depend on what your driving or towing as to the time you take
also if you need to "water" animals...
and...passengers add time

I drove it 3 times last year. If getting to La Paz is your goal I'd follow Losaripes suggestion to stop at GN or El Rosario but I have also done as
gnukid suggested and driven straight through. SD-GN-LP lets you drive strictly during daylight hours and is my preference.
For a first time driving this far south I agree with everyone else. I'd do as everyone else suggests and stop at any place along the way that catches
your fancy, lot's of places to catch your fancy.

Since I don't like to start out until 9 or 10 in the morning the first day and drive a RV at 55 mph or less, I'd spend the first night at Cielito
Lindo RV park just south of San Quintin (old habit), the second night at Santispac (another old habit), then to La Paz.
