Where do I camp now?

Last year I camped at Canon de Guadalupe for the first time. Our group had a great time. Now that is it closed or going thru "issues", is there something similiar? Where would be the next recommendation?

There are other canyons with hot springs, but none developed like Arturo's place... Across the canyon from Arturo's is his brother's camp sites with hot tubs... They just aren't private and quiet like Arturo's.

Arturo's has 2 open sites: Canyonman Rob said the El Dorado and Castillo have water... but they are the big sites and expensive.

Further south, a pool was built for Palomar Canyon's hot spring (see BajaCat's posts) and you can bathe in the hot water at Agua Caliente even more south (see BajaTaco's posts).

In the Sierra San Pedro Martir canyons (facing Valle Chico, west of San Felipe) is the other Agua Caliente canyon... Jide and I camped up there in 2004 and had a soak in the hot water. Since then, reports that the canyon was being developed into a camping site with hot tubs have been posted. But anytime someone tries to have a look, they find a fence blocking the canyon entrance? On Dec. 31, 2000, we saw the start of a pot growing operation up there... later destroyed by the army.

That's nice to hear that Arturo has some sites open. I did notice that the website is back up again. But there is no mention that some of the other sites do not have water. I think Arturo's campsite is far superior and I hope he really gets it up and fully functional again.

I posted recent emails from Canyonman Rob in another thread where he tells about the future of Arturo's and what is open now...
