My wife and i are leaving next week for a month long trip to baja. We've driven pretty far in the mainland before Sonora, Sinaloa, Nayarit but we've
never driven past Puertecitos in baja. Right now i don't have much of a itinerary. We plan on camping about half of the time and staying in hotels
the other half. Most of our time is going to be spent laying on the beach drinking Tecate. So far I plan on going through at Tecate then staying in
Guadalupe Canyon then to Ensenada then to Gonzaga Bay via Catavina. As of now thats as far as my plans go. We plan on going all the way down to Cabo
but the in between is up in the air. Any recommendations on beautiful beaches, cool towns, snorkeling or anything else is much appreciated.

As for Guadalupe Canyon: Arturo's Campo #1 is mostly closed with only Castillo and El Dorado open (with water). A dispute with Ernesto (who has the
'not so private' camps across the canyon) has disrupted the hot water to most of Arturo's site: http://www.guadalupe-canyon.com
The new pavement south of Puerteciros only runs for about 5 miles, with the rest of the 40 miles to Gonzaga being VERY rough and rocky... Alfonsina's
Restaurant/ Motel on Gonzaga Bay is great... Camping at Beluga (2 miles south) is nice...
Do drive to Bahia de los Angeles... many campgrounds, motels, places to eat there... see http://bahiadelosangeles.info
From Vizcaino, you may wish to see what all the Nomad excitement is about at Bahia Asuncion (nearly all paved)... see http://bahiaasuncion.com
San Ignacio... just a mile detour off the highway... don't pass it up!

Make sure you spend plenty of time in the Punta Chivato, Mulge, Bahia Conception area. There are tons of great beaches and places to eat.

Timoteo - in La Paz, Playa Balandra (no facilities) but an exceptionally beautiful cove with some palapas, or Tecolote (you can take a boat from here
to Isla Espiritu Santo for kayaking/camping/snorkeling). At Tecolote there are two large beach-side restaurants with palapas on the beach as well as
the public beach if you want to bring-your-own food/drink/supplies.

Don't forget your FM-T (tourist card) especially if your crossing into Baja Sur. You may need to pay in Pesos at the Bank at the Tecate crossing for
that. (The Mexicali East Crossing no longer accepts dollars for any transaction). There is a Casa de Cambio U.S. side 300' from the border at Tecate.
We're heading south to our place above Puertocitis on June 12th for 10 days, enjoy the weather, it's warming up fast. 85 degree water already at our
place...

good advice to get a bunch of pesos as it seems the banks wont change dollars for pesos anymore...sheesh.
