we just talked to Juan's cousin who passed by San Ignacio about 6:00 this afternoon and the el palmar is on fire and smoke reaches the 3 Virgenes
mountain. It was very windy which was a real problem...the pipa water trucks couldnt get to where the fire was....kind of up on the hill behind the
Mission...no houses there luckily...hope everyone is OK.

We'll be thinking good thoughts from here.

And good thoughts from the south too. There is no nicer place on earth than San Ignacio.

I just got an e-mail from a friend in Asuncion who has family in San Ignacio.
He said it was a big fire---not sure how big and it came very close to his family's home. This morning their family told them that while there was
some property damage, no one hurt. They said the firemen did a very good job.
His family's homes are in town on and near the road that goes out to the Lagoon---
So, don't really know how big, or how much property damage, but it is GREAT news that no one was hurt.

Great news that no one was hurt. Really hope damage was minimal. San Ignacio is one of the neatest places on the the peninsula, and also most
unexpected, given the surrounding environs. Just goes to show how the lushness of an oasis is not immune to the fact that it sits in the middle of a
desert.

glad to hear it was on the road out of town, the people who own the yurts are here in San Bruno fishing at San Marcos Island. Guess I do not need to
trouble them with any reports at this point.
