Where to go?

This next winter for the first time we are traveling the length of Baja in our Toyhauler. So, we are bring our sideXside/UTV ( a type of ATV where you sit side by side/4x4) and will be playing. Where can we go? We are always sensitive to the locals and eco-system so would like info before we just take off on our own blindly. We are not beach runners and have even installed an additional muffler for noise control. Mountains, dunes, washes or route to a beach for the day. Is there a Moab in Baja?

Malarrimo Beach would be a good one. Very few people go there and it's a ways off the more traveled routes. Do you go with just one UTV?

Yes just the one and a couple of Kayaks.

rocmoc, You said winter so I'd suggest some where away from the Pacific side. Well maybe a half mile or so from the surf line. :rolleyes: really I think the Pacific side has a lot more beaches that are miles & miles long. You can ride from Shari's south to just south of Abreojos on a tank of gas but will need to gas up there or along the way. Almost any dirt road is fun down here for ATV's or UTV's. I have a Ranger and there are miles of roads/trails you won't see another person or car on all day.

Hello Russ. Ranger is a great machine. We have a Joyner Trooper T2 with a 200 miles range on a tank of gas.

I'm making a list, but I need more. Any more out there?

I drove the route along Highlands National Park several years ago. Be careful traveling alone there due to lots of plant growing in that area.

Along Hwy 1, you can park in Rancho Santa Ines, and explore Mission Santa Maria -- Mission Impossible. Here's a few highlights.







Be careful driving alone -- You might get stuck in places like this.

I always get a kick out of watching you 4-wheeled guys creeping up and down hills and crawling over rocky sections that us 2-wheeled (motorcycle)guys would fly over without even breaking a sweat. Of course, you can carry more stuff.

Ken Cooke & Bajarunner, too kooool pics & video. Ken Cooke, I love running on granite slabs or slickrock. Bajarunner, your braver than I am to be playing in the rocks by myself that far in the sticks. I do it at home but I can always walk back to the house in a couple of hours.

Cypress, I just have to follow the dust cloud and stay back far enough so I don't hear anything but myself. Just in case, I do have ear plugs!

ncampion, I agree. I also have single tracker but can't take my best friend with me, she doesn't ride. Besides it too tight to fit both in the toyhauler garage so I have to chose. Spare room, what there is of it, will go to the kayaks.

Let's hope this is a trend. I hate those inconsiderate SOBs with noisy quads/bikes.

If murder was legal, I'd be picking them off like Buffalo Bill did to the bison.

You guys with noisy plastic BS toy cars and motorcycles - get lost, please.

The motorcycle guys I have seen in Mission SM have always looked really tired, thirsty and single... LOL

Jacume off Hwy 2 -- You could park the toy hauler at the campground and explore in this area.
