A few years back when Ty Miller was operating out of Tripui, he talked about a place he called "Best Beach:" which he advised was on the backside of
Carmen. Does anyone know of it and if so do you have a better location? such as in the middle, towards the north or south?
Thanksdtbushpilot - 6-15-2009 at 01:57 PM
The best beach isn't on Carmen, it's in front of my house in Buena Vista BCS.........Sorry seagar, I couldn't resist.....dtseagar - 6-15-2009 at 01:58 PM
no worries.vandenberg - 6-15-2009 at 02:57 PM
Seagar,
He may have been talking about the beach on the eastside of Carmen were the old saltworks used to be. Indeed a nice beach. But many other ones on the
islands around Loreto.
The one on the north end of Monserrat comes to mind. Half a mile of white sand beach with gentle sloping beach, great for swimming and snorkeling.Skeet/Loreto - 6-15-2009 at 03:24 PM
Seagar: There are several beaches in that area. Best to go take a look for yourself.
Now it use to be that my old friend Mundo worked at the Salt Mine for 8 pesos a Day, then some years later after the Mine was supposedly closed you
might be sleeping on that beach when a Plane load of Drugs would land and off Load into the old Mine.
There is one favorite of mine and it seems to be the one Ty was talking about.
Cruise up the East side very close in and you will find it. You will know beacuse it is like no other you have every seen. Dive down to about 25 Feet
and look around.

Better check the legality of using any island beaches. There may be restrictions. Last I heard a special permit was required to set foot on any island
within the Loreto Marine Park.seagar - 6-15-2009 at 05:32 PM
Vandenberg & Skeet/Loreto, Thanks.Sallysouth - 6-15-2009 at 05:42 PM
seagar, check your U2U.Nope Skeet, wrong one, sorry. You're all wrong so far, but maybe that is why we call it Best Beach!!!!Sallysouth - 6-15-2009 at 06:36 PM
OK guys, Best Beach is on the West side of Carmen(southwest) past lighthouse beach(great shelling there),and is where Mija and Ty were
married.Turquoise water and sand bottom, fun snorkling.(don't tell everybody tho!!)BajaBruno - 6-15-2009 at 09:15 PM
I was WONDERING when you were going to spill the news, Miss Sally!!!! Thanks.David K - 6-15-2009 at 09:33 PM

Have not heard this, but I could be wrong. I do know that pangas off-load turists daily on the beach on Coronado without any type of permit. They
even have palapas set up on the beach for shade.Cypress - 6-16-2009 at 11:40 AM
There are miles of beaches, combine the Pacific and the Sea of Cortez coastlines. How many miles? Expect you'll be able to find your own favorite
beach without having to go to the off shore islands. Good luck. You're gonna have one heck of a good time making up your mind.tripledigitken - 6-16-2009 at 12:20 PM
Impossible question to answer in my opinion.
My favorite one is the one I'm at with a cold Pacifico and some shade. But I admit I'm easy.
".......love the one you're with...."

This would have to be best beach as far as i can tell. Groupers fighting over Crocs at high tide and perfect, glistening peelers at all other tides.
Sin nadie.

Nomad page by copy and pasting the IMG url for the photo on Nomad.Sallysouth - 6-17-2009 at 09:26 PM

Bahia Santa Maria? Never been there. How do you get to it?
[Edited on 6-18-2009 by k-rico]David K - 6-18-2009 at 08:58 AM
Km. 31, south of San Felipe...
It is a group of private homes, no public camping that I am aware of. One km. south is Nuevo Mazatlan campground. See http://vivabaja.com/nm

Skipjack Joe - 6-19-2009 at 03:52 PM
Sally,
I know where that beach is! We fished for roosters right where your boat is located. In fact, Alex caught his first baja fish, a trigger, right off
that beach in 2000. He wasn't much bigger than your kids. The water is unbelievable there as you picture shows so well. We would troll rapalas and
look down, just like your daughter is doing.
Thanks for the memory.
Flyfishingpam knows it real well. She told us how to get there. There's a reef to the left of the beach with dorado in december.
[Edited on 6-19-2009 by Skipjack Joe]Sallysouth - 6-19-2009 at 08:58 PM
Yes Joe, there is a reef out on the point to the left. The water gets deeper there. You can actually almost wade to that point and see all the
creatures, Lobster, octupus, eels, etc, on the way out.Cool that your boy caught his first fish there!BTW, those are my grandchildren, but thank
you!!(Mom is in the last pic, mija Juanita, from the past El Fuerte Sportfishing days.BajaBruno - 6-19-2009 at 09:13 PM
This, my friends, is exactly what Baja is to me...great places, great memories.
Cute kids, Sally.Sallysouth - 6-21-2009 at 09:15 PM
WHAT? No best beaches from the Nomads? (thanks B-Bruno) They are both Baja born!!(and bi-linguale)sp?Skipjack Joe - 6-21-2009 at 10:25 PM
Just north of Punta Arena. You can see La Ventana in the distance. The water is crystal clear and almost no surf to speak of. There are so many great
beaches in baja that it's hard to decide which ones to include.
P.S. It's one of the few places in baja where you actually see the horizon tilt to your left !!!
