Ok, all if you baja engineers, and I know you are out there.
I have a refer that has a built in Ice Make, but I don't have filtered water, just plain ol San Felipe City water. I would like to figure out if it
is possible to modiby a jug, lets say 3 gallon water container and connect it to my refer water line to make ice using bottled water. The question:
Do the refers ice makers have a pump to suck the water into them to make ice or is it strickly the water pressure that pushed the water up into the
ice maker?
I ask because when the ice make wants to go on it sounds like a pump. However, my buddy thinks it is just a valve that is allowing the warer pressure
in and then it shuts the valve after it is full.
What do you thnk?

The noise is the solenoid valve opening to allow water to flow to fill the ice maker. We feed ours from a 5 gallon drinking water jug via a dedicated
12 volt pump. The pump switch is activated when the solenoid valve opens and shuts off when it closes.
