Looks like the end is near

JESSE - 6-17-2009 at 11:57 AM

Teodoro Garcia Simental, the man responsible for the majority of the behadings, kidnappings, and high profile murders in the Rosarito-Tijuana-Tecate region, is near capture or death. Last weeks capture of his top lieutenant, along with the arrest of many of his soldiers and killers, and tons of drugs that belong to his organization. Has made him so weak, that right now there is a huge manhunt in the mountains east of Rosarito where it is being reported, 300+ soldiers and several hundred Police are combing the terrain as he was located talking in a satellite phone. It appears the man is trapped and asking for help from the other members of the cartel he once betrayed via his satellite phone. Authorities say no one is coming to help, in a clear message the cartel is sending that they have had enough of this guy and want him out. His brother, was kidnapped last night as well by armed gunmen who apparently belong to the Arellano felix cartel, so the outcome for this guy is pretty grim.

With this guys arrest, i think the region is in for a period of stabilization and relative safety.

Saty tunned, one of Mexicos most wanted men, is near the end.

Turning up the heat

Dave - 6-17-2009 at 12:54 PM

Last night, coming back from the States the cops were thick at both toll booths. Checking every car.

The Vacuum will be filled, but i think future leaders realize that beheadings and kidnappings do not pay.

rpleger - 6-17-2009 at 02:12 PM

Right on......Thanks JESSE

Woooosh - 6-17-2009 at 02:14 PM

JESSE - 6-17-2009 at 02:26 PM

What do you mean? This guy actually frequents places in the city on a predictable itenerary? The situation couldn't be that corrupted....could it?

woody with a view - 6-17-2009 at 02:43 PM

okay Dennis, pull your tongue outta yer cheek!!!

No, Woody. I'm serious. I don't live in the middle of it so I don't see it. Could it be true, with all the military and police everywhere, that this guy runs around without being collected? I know there's corruption but, even Mexicans wouldn't put up with this.

Woooosh - 6-17-2009 at 02:54 PM

Absolutetly true. I've posted before about Mayor Torres, the Police Commandante, and El Teo all out drinking in Downtown Rosarito Beach within 100 yards from each other at the same time. Nothing is more important that staying alive to all three. A true gentlemans agreement. lol

Cananyone verify the kidnapping last night or the search today- or do I have to go up there on my dirt bike to look around?

There indeed was lots of police activity yesterday in town- but nothing on the news or in the paper as of yet. If it's a kidnap and manhunt combined- it may take a few days to sort out the players. Plus this would be a huge victory for Mexico (and us "prisoners" here in Baja norte) and everyone will want to fly in be photographed under that big flag with the man who's photo everyone was afraid to print. Maybe that ends today. Hoping.

More on Garcia

Gypsy Jan - 6-18-2009 at 02:36 PM

An email from an American who used to own a large resort inland from Ensenada.

"Actually, Garcia is somewhere just north and east of the Ranch. He took over a small rancho, killed the mother and wounded the father. Two kids escaped and hid until the troops arrived. He stole two of their horses.

Not a good time to by ANYWHERE in Mexico ."

Would that be "Rancho Ensenada?"

Woooosh - 6-19-2009 at 09:55 AM

I checked in yesterday with a SanDiego journalist I e-mail once in a while. They haven't heard anything at all, but "will drop everything for this story" if it pans out. They also said he would probably be quickly delivered to Mexcio City for display. Everyone wants a shot at Teo- once he is dead or extradited of course. They think it's just wishful thinking so far. I hope not.

Dennis, You Are Correct

Gypsy Jan - 6-19-2009 at 12:21 PM

The email was forwarded to me by a friend of the former owner(s). Boy, the history of that place is another fascinating and convoluted story of land deals/promoters in Baja. It would make an interesting book all on its own.

Thanks, Jan.......
Yeah....The place is really neat. One or two pools, a muy rustico pitch and putt golf course [ home to about a billion rattle snakes ] Lodging, a kick-ass bar and dining room...all booked for private events. Too bad the prior owners have made such a mess of things.
I think some of the racers here are familiar with the place as well.
I'm going to have to make a trip out there to see what's up.

The Last Time We Visited

Gypsy Jan - 6-19-2009 at 01:25 PM

Rancho Ensenada, the owner in possesion at that time had built an outdoor bar (for drinks) from lava rock trucked in from San Quintin with nooks for orchid plants and an automatic irrigation system.

He also had an ingenious drip irrigation system for the fields that drew water from the underground water table and was planning to revive the vinyard and start an organic farm with this amazing new fertilizer, amongst many other things.

A grand vision that didn't work out.

You're talking about that fiasco with Bob Dumas and Aaron Funk? That's like an epic Norse saga. Everybody was ripping off everybody else.

With Lee Amate getting his fingers into it from the periphery.

Is there any NEWS about the original subject of this posting?? Haven't been keeping up on stuff lately, fr down here......but am anticipating driving up solo to Rosarito Beach in 2-3 weeks.

JESSE - 7-6-2009 at 11:53 AM

Teo hasnt been arrested yet, but its clear they are completely dismantling his organization. This last week his main Marijuana supplier and his brother in law where arrested. As well as several cops that provided him with protection. He is on the run, and from what i hear, running from a 5 million bounty by the authorities, and a 20 million bounty from rivals.

ViajeraGal - 7-6-2009 at 01:32 PM

GRACIAS!, Jesse. I'll wave to you when I go thru La Paz!

I'm surprised he didn't run for public office. He would have won based on the success the other narco-supported candidates had. He didn't escape- no one is even chasing him. The people voted to support the narco-accepted past, not the Calderon future. In the next election Calderon will lose the rest of his power. Teo understands the people hate their governement and the war he started. It's not right- but it is classic Mexico!
