An Unusual Farewell

Ken Bondy - 6-21-2009 at 08:53 AM

I said goodbye to a dear old friend last week. We shared a love for Baja. The story of the unusual farewell is too long to post, but if you have a little spare time you can read it at:

I know Jim would have liked to have met many Nomads here and would have approved of you all reading this.

Thank you, Ken, for sharing this moving tribute to your good friend. What a wonderful ritual for Jim and his family, and to have such a great friend as you to carry forth his wishes.
Your poem is great! It not only is well written but it is obvious that yours comes from where all good poetry comes from; the heart. Of course, I would expect that from an artist of your caliber, and you didn't disappoint. :saint:

Puerto San Francisquito? I was there with the Jeep crew in November. The drive both in and out nearly rattled my poor Rubicon to insanity. Flying in would have been a better alternative. Although, there was some junk blocking the runway. Ken & Jim, enjoy the photos. I know he'd like them.

A heartfelt thank you for sharing that Ken.
Jim was a lucky guy to have a friend like you.
Condolences to his daughter Shawna and to you and your daughter and too all who cared for him.
"Gone Fishin"........Awesome!

Enjoyed reading your post, Ken. In fact I remember reading the Coleen's account of the two of you running out of gas at San Francisquito. It stayed with me because the identical thing happened to me at San Francisquito in the fall of 1983: we had somehow bought gas with water in it. They were embarrassed. Lucky for you guys (and me) that the wind hadn't come up. My wife said they were all nervous as darkness descended but they showed no sign of it to me - just beams of flashlights and welcome smiles.

Ken,

Thank you for this tribute, most of us can only hope for a friend like you and a fine tribute like this. I this this would be a great thing to do at my favorite fishing spot in BOLA. Connie
