Ok Mac users, please help me with picture size

DieselCruiser - 6-26-2009 at 09:12 AM

Sorry for the off topic post. I could not easily find the answer by searching and in the FAQ. Mac users, how do you get pics down to under 50k without them becoming tiny and of really poor quality?
Thank you,
Jan

Instead of reducing them to place on Nomad, as required... You can put them on a web site and hotlink the photos here, high quality and full size... Use a free photo hosting site such as www.photobucket.com, upload photos from your files to photobucket using the resizer set to 15" screen (800 pixels) or smaller, so as to not stretch the Nomad page...

In the Nomad Baja Photos forum I have posted the step by step instructions... and others have their favorite methods, as well.

Here is what I use to down size my pics. http://xtralean.com/IWOverview.html
just drag your photos out of iPhoto to the desk top, open image well, (I put it in the dock) and drag the photo into the box. I change my image size to 500 or 600 and move quality the slider to under 50 kb. Go up to "file" and save as. Did I mention it's free!

Keep testing bajawarrior... I remember years ago when I first switched... recommended by my hubby:fire: I am now a Mac lover. It did take a few months of frustration!!!

If one wants to be considerate, there are technical reasons for limiting photos to 580 pixels maximum width in this forum:

Appears like you're getting pretty good at this size thing now. Is your Mac being nicer to you now? I think now your ready to test drive Photo Bucket. You'll be able to post multiple pics and not have to down size them. iPhoto has a good edit program. I rarely use Photo Shop now.
