I decided to give the Dorado in Loreto a break this summer and go after some King Salmon in the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska. It will be hard pressed to
find some Pacifico up there but I think I can do without for 7 days. I am bringing Sr. Don Julio Anejo as my fishing partner with me so I won't be
that lonely.
I am thinking about renting a satellite phone up there as we will be out of cell phone range. Anyone have any experience using one up there?

I see that the Kanai Peninsula is just south west of Anchorage.
I had Cingular/AT&T service there two years ago as well as Juneau, Ketchican, and Skegway. You might want to check with the lodge/hotel your
staying at for availability of service.

Thank you for your reply however like you, I was there last year and the service for AT & T was great but not where I will be going. Yes, most of
the Kenai will be covered by regualr cell phoine service but not where we are heading as I tried it last year and it was a big zero bars.

Discover Baja rents them, as do other communications stores... why not ask them to show you a coverage map produced by the manufactorer?
I have a feeling they work everywhere outdoors with a clear line of sight to the satellites... same as a GPS. But, that is only a feeling!
