Pat and Julie Travel - La Paz to Guerrero Negro

June 30, 2009 - Drove La Paz to Guerrero Negro, 482 Miles – 8 Hours driving time. About 6 miles of road construction outside of La Paz. Ate lunch in Loreto and were stopped on the way out of town by local police who asked where we had been and where we were going, then sent us on our way. 2 military check points where we had to get out of the truck and they did a partial search. As needed internet for work the next morning stayed at the Desert Inn for the night, otherwise would have tried somewhere else.

Note - Driving Speed on straight stretches was whatever the speed limit sign said, but in miles per hour instead of kilometers per hour. Please do not lecture, I was not the driver. Driving times and distances are based on our GPS and do not include times when we were stopped for gas, food or Geocaching. Brings you to great places you would never find otherwise and makes for a fun, but longer, roadtrip.

Still trying to figure out the REAL adventure in your trek, seems your, "high tech treasure hunt using your GPS. Brings you to great places you would never find otherwise and makes for a fun, but longer, roadtrip.", could have been more enjoyable by actually getting out and meeting people, both locals and expats, they know the true treasures of the areas.

Wow, noproblemo2, you come across a little judgmental with your comment about the "REAL adventure in your trek." I have found that a lot of forums have people who have been on awhile that come across a little arrogant in their postings. I was hoping that Baja Nomad would be different. I was just wanting to provide a trip report based on my experience. It might be hard to believe, but we actually did meet locals during our travels. Just because it wan't mentioned, doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Geocaching can be a lot of fun and/or a lot of work. If that's what gets you out in adventureland good for you. Que sera...

julietravels you're doing just fine and yes some times some will jump in with a hurtful coment. Don't take it to heart. There are a lot of folks here that just don't take time to show they care. Good work! and read this again http://forums.bajanomad.com/viewthread.php?tid=39904

Russ, thanks for leading me to the post about Trolls. It is unfortunate that we have to be concerned about such ugliness.

Bajashark, we did find many caches on our trip. Some we had to DNF, Geocaching lingo for "Did Not Find." It was great fun and lead us to some beautiful, amazing places that we would have not known existed otherwise.
