Remembering the BAJA-ROSARIO CULTURAL FESTIVALS

They were a lot of fun for us Nomads (in July) to meet up at and Antonio was such a great host and put on quite a feast for us Nomads, as well! How many Nomads can you name?

We look forward to future El Rosario Festivals when they can again resume!

In 2005, we started out with a 4WD expedition to El Cardonal, Cuesta La Vibora and El Sauzalito copper mine ruins:

The Baja Nomad members on that trip:

The squarecircle, Surfer Jim, Bob H, Hook, Frigatebird,
Santiago, Baja Nomad, Nicolita, Neal Johns, follow David K
and Baja Angel on a drive into the Baja desert.

Tomorrow, we will be in El Rosario again... No fiesta, other than the one we make!:D

The truck is all cleaned out of my work stuff and ready to pack for a week in Baja... For three years this vacation began with the Baja-Rosario Festival ('05, '06, '07), so we regulary plan a week vacation starting with the El Rosario mission founding anniversary. :light:

Last year, we got married in Vegas and went to Yellowstone Park instead of Baja. This year, it is our first anniversary... and we will have it at Baja Cactus in El Rosario, then continue on south... :bounce:

I never got much out of El Rosario, just a place to get gas. I did get some bad looks from some locals, when we were towing our 14' Duraboat to BoAL.

Too bad you haven't gone off Hwy. 1 to see what is over the hill or behind the block! With such great motels as Baja Cactus and the new TURISTA MOTEL on the other end of town or Baja's Best Bed & Breakfast... El Rosario can be much more than just a fill up!

On my page of fast links to Baja photos and data http://vivabaja.com/tours I have links to the following under EL ROSARIO:

El Rosario Area

Missions, Museum, La Bocana, La Lobera

Cactus Garden and Sauzalito mine ruins

Petrified Forest & La Bocana Beach

El Camino Real near Km. 80

Las Pintas Fossil Grotto

Los Martires to El Socorro, cactus forests, petroglyphs found!

Mision San Fernando and petros '05

Mina de San Fernando (plus mission and petros in '00)

El Marmol & El Volcan

Agua Dulce historic spring (plus Baja Cactus Motel)

Mama Espinoza Museum & Search for Santa Ursula

To Punta Baja and down the coast road

Funny thing happened to me when I was coming back from my trip last week. I stopped for gas in El Rosario and when I paid the lady the pump said 465 pasos so I give her 470. She asked if I had 5 pasos and I said yes and gave it to her and she said gracias and walked off to the office. I stood there wondering what had happened looked at the pump again then laughed and went on my way.

Well Tom, that's the problem... you had to pay in pasos instead of pesos... the exchange rate between pasos and pesos is the reason for the 10 paso difference! :light:;)

Your right, me bad.

No worries Tom... But, Antonio wants us to let him know anytime someone makes that kind of mistake or whatever it was... He wants Baja Cactus Pemex to be the best Pemex!

After I left I was thinking she probably thought I WAS 5 pesos low which would have been an honest mistake and I should have said something to her, like point to the pump etc. If she did catch it I had left before he could return from the office.
