A question for Baja Cactus

jrbaja - 6-20-2004 at 09:46 AM

Antonio, apparently there have been some ongoing gas theivery problems at the Pemex inLa Paz by the Malecon. My girlfriend was one of the victims and I just read on Fred's board (Baja Travelers) that others have had the same problem.
They overcharged her for the gas and were very rude when confronted. She did not get her money back and will never get gas there again.
What would the proper action be in this type case? Either during or after the fact.

Well....

As you may know, all the gas stations in Mexico are franchises, so they are all independently own, and therefore every gas station operates in a different manner.

The owner of the gas station is almost never in the premises, but usually, there is a manager for every shift, most of the times this person is inside the gas station office.

At the moment, you may ask to talk with him, he may be able to help out, that is their main job: attend any and all problems regarding the operation during their shift.

If you get overcharged, you could always bluff that unless they get you your money back you will go to the local police station.

Now, afterwards, you may file a complaint with PROFECO (this is the government departamnt that is suposse to defend the consumers against rip off's).

They have a 800 number: 01-800-468-8722

http://www.profeco.gob.mx

They have offices in all major cities.

And of course.... you need to post it everywhere in the internet you can, so none of us buys there anymore....:D

Hope this helps a little...
