PUERTECITOS PHOTOS BY BEERCAN

David K - 7-16-2009 at 10:28 AM

Beercan sent me a lot of photos showing how different Puertecitos looks today... from the old days of junky trailers and U.S. road signs for decorations! Thank you!

Here are some of the photos:

Hey, they even spelled it right!

DENNIS - 7-16-2009 at 10:34 AM

WOW....There are some nice houses down there now. Do we get to see some fotos of Beercan and MrBill shooting holes in the neighbor's boat or some such fun as that?

Bob H - 7-16-2009 at 10:35 AM

Wow, very cool shots. It still looks strange with the lack of vegitation... it's like houses on the moon!
Thanks for posting these.
Bob H

Thanks David !!!!

beercan - 7-16-2009 at 11:15 AM

It is the desert .........

Nice houses. Wow, that lansdscape is moon-like. I bet there is not a stick of vegetation in 40 miles.

Is this thread meant to be celebration of 40th anniversary of Apollo 11? Sure looks like artists rendition of future housing planned for the moon.

Bajahowodd - 7-16-2009 at 04:00 PM

It's just like Maui without the greenery, or the moderate temps. Hot as Hades in the summer and pretty darn cold in the winter. Just like Maui!

Oggie - 7-16-2009 at 04:50 PM

The pictures are great.

The last time I was near Puertecitos was in the sixes. It took us longer to drive from San Felipe to our camping spot, just East of the sulfur mines, than from San Diego to San Felipe. San Felipe became to touristy for us so we started going to BOLA.

Crusoe - 7-16-2009 at 04:59 PM

Wow!!!...What a different look to an old "unique" Baja spot on the map!!! Thanks for the pics D.K.. ++C++

bajaweenie ---you sure do like to put foot in mouth

beercan - 7-16-2009 at 08:40 PM

Have you spent a winter in Puertecitos ?
Coolist temp last winter was 58 --water temps were in low 60's .
I was there most of the last 4 winters and the coldest that I can recall was about 45 .
I wear shorts and t-shirts during the winter.

And when is that lovely PEMEX station going to open?

Well, ----now let's see.

beercan - 7-17-2009 at 08:38 AM

It was OPEN for about a month when it was first built about 10 --12 years ago , and it was open last year for a couple of months and it is now open .

Yeah...What's the sense of that structure?

Sharksbaja - 7-17-2009 at 01:17 PM

The new mausoleum.

smlslikfish - 7-17-2009 at 01:21 PM

gotta say those houses make up a small minority of what's there. Plenty of junky old baja trailers and sheds to go around!

N2Baja - 7-17-2009 at 02:16 PM

Damn! Doesn't anyone have anything nice to say on this board anymore?

Gotta say you're wrong ---

beercan - 7-17-2009 at 02:17 PM

Many improvements and more coming .Majority of the trailers are gone .

Ok, you're right, Dennis, that was nice. What I meant to say was......

Damn! Doesn't anyone but Dennis have anything nice to say on this board anymore?

Ken Bondy - 7-17-2009 at 03:15 PM

Those are fantastic beercan and David K!!! Do you guys know what the structure is in the first photo?? (The round structure with "PUERTECITOS, correctly spelled, on the side???) Thanks for posting these,
++Ken++

beercan - 7-17-2009 at 03:39 PM

On this Board??? Ha including Dennis... Its all about "me" and how can I belittle everyone else!

slimshady - 7-17-2009 at 08:33 PM

Are they building mausoleums or bombshelters? Some people really have bad taste and don't even know it. That home should have a better inviting entrance and as well as larger windows on the ocean facing side to optimize the oceanview. The other ones on the top look like mini mercados. But I guess its better than not being in baja so enjoy.

David K - 7-17-2009 at 08:39 PM

I am wondering why people can't just look at a photo and enjoy it or ignore it?

Do you guys ever want Beercan (or any Nomad) to show us any more?

Puertecitos is a 'special place' and not often visited... specially now with the new highway detouring completly around the town... Enjoy these rare views. If you don't like the style of construction, take it up with the Puertecitos Planning Committee... Don't bite the photographer's post!

Jeezo, David....Kinda touchy this evening, arncha? There was nothing here to get excited about. All in all, pleasant discourse.

David K - 7-17-2009 at 08:57 PM

Naw, maybe just anxious to hit the road in the morning... Just an observation... I don't want all the negative comments on Puertecitos to dicourage anyone from taking the time and effort to share their photos here.

You know, the 'if you can't say something nice'... kinda thing.

Have a good week Dennis!

DENNIS - 7-17-2009 at 09:12 PM

Have a good trip, David.

I am wondering why people can't just have an opinion and express it. Just think how much terrific fun this board would be if we only said nice things. Frightening! :o

Jeezo, Vince...are we the last two up tonight? I think I'll let you turn out the lights.

Ok ok, it's a nice looking morgue:lol:

The photos are nice to see what's being built. David, take it safely.

capt. mike - 7-18-2009 at 08:57 AM

great pics Bob-
very nice casas too.
i'd like one there some day.
who's the builders?

all on leased ground?

Puertecitos sure is changing.

Bob - remember when chuck and Vicky stuck their 172 Hawk XP on that ditch with their nose gear and dug the prop? a few years ago.

they had one of the rock houses a couple of miles north of the RW.
ever see them?

Mike,I wasn't there when it happened

beercan - 7-18-2009 at 09:02 AM

I haven't seen them in several years and it is said they moved?

Clara is hard to deal with at times, but she is bent on improving the village. I applaude her for that.

Beto Parra is the contractor and is a great person to work with.
Does amazing work with what he has to work with!

You still need to come down this winter for a visit .

what a great change,, nice pixs,, thanks for sharing

bacquito - 7-18-2009 at 11:55 AM

I've not been to Puertecitos for years and by all looks it has improved. I look forward to visiting it soon.

Almost all of the "old originals" are gone.

beercan - 7-18-2009 at 10:44 PM

I've been going there for 28 years and officially retired 5 years ago to live there during the winters. It has many advantages and of course some unfavorables.
