Has any one surfed inside cabo colonet? Curious to hear your stories.

Thers a good right off the point at 4 casas.
you can explore down the beach for a long way . Theres better surf out there thats not to much futher.

I knew a gringo named Gordy who used to live in a little house right there on the inside of Cabo Colonet, right were all the fisherman launch their boats. (Hmmmm.... they launch their boats there.... that ought to tell us something about lack of surf.) Anyway, I've never seen anything that enticed me to paddle out there, although Gordy claimed to have seen it go off a time or two. Once it looked like if you were willing to make a seriously long paddle (or boulder hop on a low tide way out the point) that there was cool looking right that seemed to peel forever. I've surfed the beach break south of the bay, and at the river mouth a couple times when it was pretty fun, but other than that one time I've never seen anything other than ankle slappers inside the bay. Perhaps one day the planets will align and the swell will be right and if you hold your tongue just like this....

We used to get a fun little peak at the San Telmo rivermouth, probably a temporary sandbar in wet years....but basically pretty fickle area for surf.....Surf Report listed a break called Robert's Left but we could never figure out where that was.....on big swells there's a slew of reefy breaks up to about a mile offshore off the area but you'd need a boat to even see if their rideable. Punta San Jose, up the coast from Cabras gets very fun surf, and hollow at the right tides....anybody surf the point at Cabo San Quintin? We always heard horror stories of banditos and sharks, but good surf.

roberts lefts are south of casas. caught it in fall on a mixed swell3-5 south 4-6 nw and it was great. wind was light offshore, and it offered up two well defined a-frame peaks with the lefts a little more speedy than the rights. well defined peaks off a cobblestone beach. full on taco barrels.
just go south untill the nw swell is no longer peeling right
and between the ellusive rights there is a piece of beach that has a-frames and clean/dry paddle out. thats all im sayin!! find it!!! we did... and we had no more info than that very surf report!!

since when are no-cal surfers so eager to spit out unsolicited "secret surf spot" knowledge? I thought you guys were all balck bearded, mile walking, gripe mumbling, scoul throwing, 5 mil wearing, local spot hoarding a-holes. You must be a real hit with that crowd.

wow my neighbors have really made an impression on the rest of humanity. honestly , if you dont surf at one of the three crowded breaks in my county, you surf by yourself. and you feel in good company cause the wildlife is usually bigger than you and happy to divulge to you their prescence. i wear a 4/3 booties and no hood.
and the info was solicited, as you can see above, and well there are alot of things south of casas here is a few:
san quintin
san carlos
scorps
san pedrito
all south of casas.
as well with the wind patterns in the area, i figure that roberts is actually seldom as we found it. probably crossed up and blown out 300 days of the year. so if you werent there when we were, not only will it be blown out chop, but will not be visible at all.
none of these is a secret spot. never were since the 70's.
so i dont think i revealed all that much. but some may dissagree. how did we find it?
wrong turn...lol ...totally by accident, surf report in hand...

I have surfed Colonet in early summer at the point. It was probably the best it's ever been, about two-three feet and peeled perfectly for a good 200 yards. Had to take out the longboard to really have fun. There was a lot of kelp though, so it made it a little tough. The paddle out is super long too, or you can just boulder hop up the point beneath the huge cliffs, which protect the wave and keep it pretty glassy.

Just curious. Spent alot of time at Cuatro Casa in late 70's and 80's. Surf was not consistant. Spent most of my time lobster fishing with Enis. Does anyone recall Enis and Maria? Shoulda/coulda wrote a book about Enis and Maria. If you knew them you would understand. Gave new meaning to "mi casa su casa"!!!

We rode quads from Erindira south to Shipwrecks and stopped in at Quatros Casas this past summer. Talked to Richard who has the Hostel and big white house/hotel. I use to surf there in the early 80's and knew him then. I believe Ynez is still hanging in there and that Richard married into the family? Don't want to spread rumors though. Turns out that the camp of Quatos Casas wasn't his property at all, it belonged to the Ejido. Residents now pay the Ejido their rent. My buddy from Construction days Mike Burrows has had a trailer just to the left of the Hostel for over 10 years.

Robert's left is south inside the point. Named for a goofy foot friend of Richards. We called him "brain dead" I believe. Still though, a constant source of entertainment.
