Buenaventura

LisaR. - 7-28-2009 at 12:46 PM

I promised pictures on the turtle thread, but have nothing juicy to add to the discussion, so this seemed like a better place to put them...

As I said in my post "over there" Buenaventura is a beautiful, beautiful cove. (This is my first time posting pictures--cross your fingers for me!)

Approaching from the north

The entrance to the compound--Mark and Olivia's restaurant is to the right, the hotel is to the left.

Turning toward the restaurant

View from inside the restaurant

The inside--cool place, huh?

On the beach (that's me)

The hotel from the beach

The cove from the south

Thanx for the nice pics. Lisa...It looks like someone is making a big effort to really keep the place up!. ++C++

We've passed by a number of times. Lisa, do you perchance have any photos of the inside of the hotel? The restaurant looked great.

looks great. i'll bet the big rigs rolling past in the night are a bummer...

Sorry, Bajahowodd, we didn't take any pictures of the inside of the hotel. A woman did open up the rooms to show us, though, and they looked pretty good. We saw three of them, at the 600 peso, 800 (or 850, I forget), and 1000 peso levels. The 1000 peso rooms are at the corners and have a great ocean view, a patio, refrigerator and microwave, and I think even a dining area. We were looking into staying there when the whole "turtle bust" thing broke and it scared us off! After visiting, though, I kind of wish that we hadn't chickened out!

Lisa, great job posting photos!

Bajahowodd - 7-28-2009 at 02:17 PM

Understand, Lisa. Geez, it's going to hit 900 posts on that thread soon, and fundamentally, nothing has changed.

Thanks, David. I followed your excellent instructions on posting from photobucket, and it worked exactly right.

And Bajahowodd, I agree. Nothing has changed. Even posting the pictures here, it just adds to the madness! Sheesh...

Hi Shari!

I think the gravel is probably to resurface the road/driveway. As Crusoe commented, it does look like things are being kept up, in spite of the drama!
