First of all-my current vehicle doesn't qualify for the CARS,cash for clunkers $4500 rebate from Obama.
We are moving to LaPaz for 6-8 months a year and want to have a new vehicle there since we are really foreigners and don't know the ins & outs of
vehicle repair.
We are going to buy a Tacoma but are interested in the pros, cons, and $$ involved La Paz vs. USA.
Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Its been discussed here a lot, but just 2cents. Buy the car here it will save you a lot of problems, Importing, plates, etc. To buy a new Tacoma you
will probably have to go to San Jose where the Toyota dealer is.

Hi Bill - I don't know about the difference in prices for new cars, but servicing is definitely an issue. I have a US Honda CR-V in La Paz and was so
excited to see the Honda Dealer/Service center there, until I needed a part for my car that wasn't 'quite' the same as the comparable part for the
Mexican-made CR-V. I had to get the part in San Diego and bring it down. It's something to think about, espcially if you don't plan on driving the
car back and forth.

FYI- If you buy a car in Mexico with Mex plates you will need to have a Mexican drivers' license to be legal. Also, I'm assuming you have an FM3 or
FM2 which is needed.
