Posting pictures and avatar.? AGAIN!

Howard - 8-1-2009 at 10:56 AM

I run a multi-million $ business. I have led troops in battle. (Viet-Nam). I have been to around 45 countries, even liked Arnold, the Gobinator at one time, don't kick my dog, love my mother

however...

EVEN WITH THE HELP OF FAQ, I CANNOT FOR THE LIFE OF ME FIGURE OUT HOW TO POST PICTURES OR USE THE AVATAR!

Just spank me and call me stupid but I need some very simplistic (is that a real word?) help how to do these things!

Howard, here's the link to the instructions, maybe it will help

Howard... I would be more than happy to walk you through it... Over the phone would be best... If interested, u2u me...

Don't feel bad, Howard. It is not easy!

But once you do it you will say to yourself..."Duh! That was easy".
David will walk you through it.
I'll look for your avatar soon.

I had one at one time, but took it off at the same time I took all personal information out of my profile. I don't recommend that everyone do that. It was a personal matter (if you can read between the lines).:smug:

Avatars 101

Pompano - 9-24-2009 at 04:57 AM

This is an ungoing question and task for most of us on this forum. I just went through the avatar posting process yesterday.
I somehow had deleted my avatar and had forgotten how to replace it.

1. I googled 'free avatar' and selected this online media hosting site, Image Shack, from the pages of possilbes: http://imageshack.us/

2. click on Browse and select from your computer what image you want for your avatar.

3. click on the Resize Image box after selecting 100 X 75 avatar from the choices given there.

4. click on Start Upload.

5. copy and paste to Baja Nomad avatar window.

You are done...or at least I was.

One big secret for picture posting is NOT to ask for a preview of the post. It erases the file you tried to upload.

David K - 9-24-2009 at 03:38 PM

Where you click to upload to Photobucket are some size options:

Tiny ( 100 x 75 )
Small ( 160 x 120 )
Medium ( 320 x 240 )
Large ( 640 x 480 )
15" screen ( 800 x 600 )
17" screen ( 1024 x 768 )
1 megabyte file size

The unadjusted standard upload size is 17" screen (1024 X 768) and Doug asks that photos don't exceed 800... keeps the pages on Nomad withing the monitor without needing to scroll to the right...

Actually, not that cool. This was Saturday Sept. 5th, a couple of days after Jimena caused so much damage down south. This was our high tide day for the month and add a little wind, and a little storm surge, plus the fact that we have lost a lot of sand over the years on our beach=waves on the patio.

That was the high point, fortunatly,, this is not my house but a house to the north of me. I get a little sprinkle on the patio which is enough...

I took out the photo because of size but will repost
