BajaNomad

This One is For David K

Neal Johns - 8-4-2009 at 09:30 AM

DK is helpful to many people on many Baja subjects but:

He has outdone himself on investigating the Baja Missions and El Camino Real and posting the info and pictures on the Baja Nomad forums and his website.

On this basis, I therefore declare him The Most Valuable Poster.

Curt63 - 8-4-2009 at 09:44 AM

DK has been very helpful to me, personally, and many others.

I'm kind of a newbie so I cant speak for the last several years.

I consider him to be an excellent, helpful, friendly, very experienced in Baja for decades, knowledgeable, resourceful Nomad.

However, I greatly value a variety of perspectives.

In my recent travels I have found that not all Nomads are what they seem to be in their posts (not talking about DK).

Personally, I take these posts with a grain of salt.

Thanks so much... I am just really happy that there are a few of you Nomads/ Amigos that enjoy the details/ photos/ GPS/ historical research of my trips.

I really wish I could go back down, right away and continue... My nearly entire life has been adicted to the 'sickness' called BAJA FEVER.

I just can't get enough!

Having the Internet and Baja Nomad makes my trips all the more fun, because not only can I quell my curiosity of the past in Baja... I can share it with you anmd maybe inspire more Baja researchers out there!

Thank you Neal... you are a great friend I have known for 10 years now... and you have been so kind and generous with helping my quest for Baja knowledge... You and the other friendly Nomads have kept me inspired to find the lost mission of Choral Pepper's writings (big thanks to Sharksbaja on that one) and seek answers to other mysteries... such as the Magdalena ruins and the second site of Santo Tomas.

Thank you all my friends of Baja!

dtbushpilot - 8-4-2009 at 09:41 PM

Thanks DK for all that you do for us.

I have been infected with Baja for 15 years or so and haven't found a cure.......haven't been looking hard enough I guess.

I would post more if I had your dedication but I guess I don't.

Thanks again, for all that you contribute to the Nomads forum.....dt & jt

When I see a post like this on Nomads, I'm reminded of this quote:

"I swear to god, it's like I live in a trailer of common sense, and stare out the window at a tornado of stupidity."

I have also know David for 9 or 10yrs. I challenge anyone to prove him wrong on any info. he shares! Thanks David for all the years of you friendship and help.

And Kneal........where have ya been? Nice to see you on the board! WIW #6 ;D

JESSE - 8-4-2009 at 11:29 PM

DK is one of the few original nomads, a good friend.

Sharksbaja - 8-4-2009 at 11:56 PM

Politics aside he is the #1 Baja affectionado and Nomad contributor in my book. He is helping to define Bajas' past before it's too late. Good on him!

ELINVESTIG8R - 8-5-2009 at 04:43 AM

David K. was definitely bitten by the Baja-Bug from an early age as demonstrated in some of his pictures. I don’t know of a more knowledgeable person when it comes to Baja. Please make sure that your knowledge is passed on to another generation so others can enjoy as we have. Thanks for all you have done to enlighten us about "LA BAJA" The final frontier! The beautiful Peninsula that is endless, silent and waiting to caress your face or kick your behind. Where the Baja Nomad has a mission to live or seek-out and contact La Baja life through the exploration of her vastness and attempt to go where no man or woman has gone before.

The Sculpin - 8-5-2009 at 06:42 AM

DK now needs to get serious and do something important with his life........

WRITE A BOOK!!!

Come on now, there's one in you just waiting to get out.....

Bob H - 8-5-2009 at 06:54 AM

With almost 20,000 posts on this wonderful Nomad board - that tells you enough about how much Baja knowledge David K has shared over the years. The detail involved in his trip reports just get better and better. Just when you think he's written the best trip report ever - the next one takes you deeper and deeper into Baja history, etc.
My hat is off to you David!

David's contribution to the dissemination of information on Baja's historical treasures has not only enhanced our experience, but will remain as fodder for future historians. Certainly he deserves some credit for the recent protection given mission sites by the Mexican government. More and more local folks recognize the value of these sites.

Now, David, about that lost Mission Isabel...

preston - 8-5-2009 at 07:39 AM

I know when I see a post form David K that I need to read it carefully because I will most likely learn something new about Baja.

To me, that says it all!

Thanks David

Mr.K invited us to play in this sandbox. He unselfishly offered to help us get some pictures on the net of our little known paradise...did lots of work without ever even have met us...and with nothing to gain but the pleasure he gets out of sharing the baja experience...infecting others with the incurable baja fever.

When we did meet, politics never came up at all and he shared lots of really interesting information on remote areas and missions. He is a gentleman and a scholar...and i dont give a rat's burro what his politics are as long as he is respectful and pleasant.

I take my sombrero off to you david....gracias for introducing us to Nomadlandia.

David is a real Ambassador to Baja California. He knows it, loves it, lives it, and shares it. He's often referred to my books, "Baja Fever" and "Baja Legends," as well as others he thinks best cover a certain subject. I'm glad that he's never been cured from "Baja Fever." Keep it up, David. Greg
