Well it's hot off the press. TUNDRA VS F-150, I hate to say it, but Last Two Trucks Of The Year. One Winner.
First Place "Yep" FORD F-150 SECOND PLACE TOYOTA TUNDRA. I can't even start to tell you how many areas, I'll leave that up to you, all the information can be found in TRUCK TREND, SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2009 ISSUE.
Both Trucks are the mega cab short bed. basicaly same features for comparison.
Don't get me wrong, I love Toyotas, have owned them they are a great truck, but just can't do what my heavy duty Ford can perform.

The Ford F-150 has been voted the number one selling truck in American for around 30 years now! I think every year, it's been number one since 1978. That's gotta tell ya something.

Would you believe that Ford stock was trading at just over a dollar a few months back and now is over $8.00??
They are kicking "Government Motors" behind in sales and haven't accepted any taxpayer funds.
They must be doing something right.

We were looking at Tundra when we started shopping but they were just too spendy( for us) in comparison. We are not sorry we went with the Ford 150.

Ive worked for Ford for 8yrs and boy has the F150 changed a lot for 2010!

Im waiting to see the disiel Toyota i herd suppose to be its rival will see.

All vehicles a great when there new but you have admit some tend to last longer ha?:yes:

I should hope that Ford makes a good truck... how long have they made full size trucks?

The amazing part is that a company who has had a full size truck for only 3-4 years has made one SO GOOD, it is being compared to 'the best', a Ford! So, this year Toyota is #2 in full size trucks? Already ahead of Chevy, Dodge, GMC, Nissan... hmmmm... impressive!

Like I said Ford has it, Von when you mention the Toyota Diesel they will have mega problems in the begining, they don't have the technology that Ford has, also Ford is back on the drawing board with the F-150 DIESEL.

I have a 350 crew cab Diesel what a truck, can pull a locomotive.

Curiously, in the "cash for clunkers" program, the most recent data show that among the top ten vehicles being surrendered, the number one vehicle is the Ford Explorer 4WD, followed by the F-150 2WD in second place. The F-150 4WD is listed eighth. the vehicle listed number one for purchase under the program is the Ford Focus. The list I viewed did not provide model year. So I'm guessing a lotta old F-150s were turned in by a lotta people who drove a truck for reasons other than necessity. What does this mean in connection with the Ford- Toyota debate? Probably nothing.:yawn:

and i heard on the radio the toyota camry was #1 and a honda was #2. ford was next as the most bought cars under the program meant to bail out gm/chrysler...... oooops!

The F-150 hasnt been what I would call a full sized pickup for about 12 years, or since they were using the same basic cab and box for the F150/250/350 (or was it the F100/200/300s) and only changing the chassis and suspension.

I still see some of the old American 1/2 ton trucks down here by Ford and Chevy. What a hunk a metal!! What a thing of beauty!!!

Then came the yuppie truck wars.

It wasnt enough that there were mid-sized lines like the Rangers and the S-10s and the Sonomas and the Dakotas. Ford and Chevy and Dodge had to keep pace with the imports....................and keep up with fuel efficiency standards.

Thus, begat the yuppie truck wars, complete with wafer-thin truck box metal, composite beds and tailgates. With cramped cabs and dashes with no room to put ANYTHING cause the windshield is inches away from your face. With plastic trim and vinyl seats that WEREN'T EVEN COMFORTABLE ON THE SHOWROOM FLOOR, much less years later!

Gimme an 8 foot bed any time of the day. Gimme 3000# of carrying capacity. Gimme 20,000# of overall towing and carrying capacity. Gimme a dash I can load up with tuna feathers and cedar plugs that stay there. Gimme a door arm rest that isnt right below the axis of my shoulder socket; a door that I might actually survive being T-boned at 10 mph.

Ladies and gentlemen...........let's call a truck a truck and not confuse the issue with a passenger car chassis that HAPPENS to have a bed in the back.

That ain't a TRUCK. That's a fashion statement with a modicum of convenience.

A real truck is a FUNCTION statement.

And a real truck owner doesnt give a damn about dings and dents and rust on the rear axle and little bottles of touch up paint. Cause the thing still FUNCTIONS.

Let them whittle away at the pretenders and squeeze more mpgs out of them but let there always be FULL SIZED TRUCKS because people will always need to carry something heavy and to do that you need REAL metal and REAL power.

Long live the true FULL SIZED TRUCK, ladies and gentlemen................

Anyway, who won this year's fashion show?

Actually, the Corolla is number two behind the Focus. You can view the updated list at jalopnik.com. The only GM vehicle is the Cobalt at number 10.

For many years my "ride" in Mexico, and up north, was my 1969 Ford F-100 2-wheel drive pickup------------it was a killer truck, and it took me almost everywhere I wanted to go, and almost never broke down.

My son still has that truck, and it is still going strong in the Owens Valley of CA.

My "new" truck is a 1994 F-250, and it has been flawless since I bought it (tho it does gulp fuel).

Personal experience is what always counts in the "truck wars". :lol:

I always liked Ford trucks. We have a Tundra 4wd and I like it but almost bought a Ford 250 years ago. Happy with the Tundra but appreciate the news re. the Ford truck

Toyota has been making diesels for years and sells them all over the world, just not in the U.S.

I have a Ford F350 diesel, it's a great truck when it's not in the shop. I am looking forward to seeing a Toyota diesel truck, there is no way they could be less reliable than the Ford.

I can see where everybody here got off on a defensive mode, when I started this thread it was to do with FORD VS TOYOTA not to get into a P--- Contest, the facts are in READ TRUCK TREND, I love Toyota's, as I said, all I'm saying is they can not, again can not do what my 350 Diesel can do, can a Toyota pull 20,000 plus plus pounds? It seems here we went for longevity not real world situations. END OF DISCUSSION.

I have had many 4x4 trucks used in wildland firefighting operations. The F450 and 550s (2202 and 2003s) were built well but the 7.6 International-built dsl. motors didn't hold -up well in the dust (several new motors) and I had to fight Ford with complaints and lawyers to get Ford to warrenty the work. The 6.2 liter dsl. is even worse. Now I run GMC 4x4 C4500 and C5500s with WAY better luck- Duramax/ Isuzu engine and Allison trannies. My F150 chase trucks have done well with the 5.4 gas motors and my Expedition has made many trips up and down Baja with no breakdowns but for a personal-use truck I would but the Toyota. The technology is better and Toyota's dealers are better to work with. Just a note: do not use Jones West Ford in Reno, NV. ; they lie, they steal, they cheat. I have proven this several times, in court. Because of the way Ford has treated me, I can't imagine I would ever buy another Ford ever!

7.6L International-built diesel motors? Were these in the 450-550 series or are you referring to the 7.3L motor?
