11 american citizens (apparently from Alaska) were intoxicated yesterday in Ensenada with pork tacos.
They were taken to the red cross for medical attention.
Now.... the medic said that the reason they got sick was really a HUGE INDIGESTION because.... each of them ate around 20 pork tacos...yes, that is
righ: 20....
Now... I think they will remember Baja for quite a while....

Feel real sorry for you in that you can (will) not eat some of the finest food in the world.
No! they do not taste like chicken. They taste like carnitas!DanO - 6-24-2004 at 09:52 AM
One of my wife's friends asked me once at a party, "how can you eat the street food down there in Baja, don't they cook it in trash cans?"
"Yes they do, and it tastes better that way," I replied. "In fact, any time I come across a street vendor who doesn't cook in a trash can, I haul my
own trash can out of the back of my truck -- I carry it everywhere for just this purpose -- and insist that they cook my food in it."
Now that I think about it, I don't recall her ever coming over to our house for dinner after that. FrankO - 6-24-2004 at 10:01 AM
20? Is that all? Sheesh, amateurs.akbear - 6-24-2004 at 10:33 AM
It just goes to show that we have a hard time finding good carnitas here in Alaska !
No Albertos, Robertos or Azteca taco stands. We tend to over do when get the chance.
Ah, to have a Machaca con Huevos burrito !
My thoughts exactly FrankO

Big tortillas...
BajaCactus - 6-24-2004 at 04:44 PM
What really impresses me is that I have eaten at the place this guys had their tacos... They use big tortillas... not the small ones usually used in
normal tacos...

I think I know what happened to Surfer Jim... I had a 'fresh' clam coctail at one of the fish taco booths in San Felipe (in the courtyard of taco
stands), May, 2003. 24 hours later (after off roading with Max from Yuma), the world began to take on a new reality... I made camp on Shell Island and
thought I was going to die right there. The doctor at Delicias wasn't in so I had to purge my system of the 'fresh' clams. Never again... BUT, I won't
stop eating other goodies... unless it kills me!
Happens to all...
BajaCactus - 6-24-2004 at 08:55 PM
That has happen to all of us.. not only to non mexicans... you swear you will not taste any other street food for the rest of your life....
48 hours later you are again tasting the great tacos of the new place around the corner....
Antonio M.surfer jim - 6-25-2004 at 12:19 AM
Not for me...been at least a year and still no desire....3 tacos cost me 2 days of work...sick like a dog...lost 6-7 pounds....instant diet....and if
you want to have something to read while sick look up "food poisining" on Google....
Youngins with Weak Minds and Stomachs!

You bunch of Youngins show your "Lack of Knowledge" and Tender Stomachs.
If you would have paid attention in School , you would have learned that you do not do things in Escess!
You Hit the Streets in Baja , full of Tecate, Hunger, with no thought at all of the Signs around a Taco Stand.
Are there other People eating at the Stand?
Are the Pots and Pans Clean?
Are the clothes on the Server somewhat Clean?
Is there several mangy dogs around close?
Are the dishes covered with a cloth or paper Towel/?
I have been in and around Baja Sur for 35 years, eaten at many, many Taco Stands, Drank a lot of Carte Blanc and Tequila and have never been Sick or
had the Trots.
Why? Pay attention to your surrondings, Get you Head out of your A--. eyes off of the Chicks, Pants zippered, when you go to Eat!!!!!

I've never gotten sick in Mexico, but have had food poisoning twice in states. Once sister-in-law decided to make chili, slow cooking it in a crock
pot overnight. Thought I saw angels on that one.
Second time was last Monday, started having visions after a Spicy Thai pizza from Mammoth's Giovanni's Restaurant. Think I dropped 5 pounds
overnight.
But in Mexico? Nah, just great food there.whodat54321 - 6-25-2004 at 04:32 PM
In Playas yesterday, I was SO tempted to try a big seafood c-cktail with clams, oysters, octopus, and shrimp, but passed on it when the guy started
making fish and shrimp tostadas with salsa made fresh right in front of you. Couldn't beat that, until we walked by the place next door who was
cooking up snapper over a grill.
So much food, so little time and stomach capacity.
