2009 Hurricane Season Preparedness
August 12, 2009
Hurricane Season is in High Gear –
U.S. Consulate Urges American Citizens to be Prepared
Hurricane season is upon us again, so the US Consulate General in Tijuana wants to take this opportunity to remind you to prepare. Following is
information on hurricane preparedness for U.S. citizens residing in and traveling throughout Baja California and Baja California Sur. The following
links provide valuable information that can assist you in preparing for this season’s hurricanes.

In the event of a tropical storm or hurricane, the U.S. Consulate General will send out a warden message and will monitor the storm’s track, issuing
updated messages. The Department of State may also issue a Travel Alert or Travel Warning to apprise the American traveling public of the situation.
Please take this time to check your travel documents and those of your family members to assure that all U.S. passports are still valid and that any
non-American family members have valid U.S. visas. You may need to travel to the U.S. on short notice and would not want to be stuck without valid
travel documents.
Additional information on hurricanes and storm preparedness may be found in the U.S. Department of State’s “Hurricane Season 2009” webpage at:
