OK, I posted one of these on another thread, but thought I would put the two together.
I love the zopolotes and this one kepy going by almost at eye level as if he was saying, YOU ARE NEXT
Now, I just wish I could convince these guys to do their work in the early mornings so the lighting would be better---but they always prefer mid-day!

jdtrotter, Thanks for the pictures. About your mid-day observations,
they need the thermal uplift to get airborne.DianaT - 8-15-2009 at 01:19 PM

Besides, in the mornings they are often drying their wings---but do you think if I used some strong fans to help them get airborne, I could convince
them to try it? ibannie - 8-15-2009 at 01:22 PM

Diane,
love your photos. We have many of those guys here at the Posada don Diego.
When they fly pretty close to my house I just know they are waiting for me to go outside.
took some pictures a few years ago but my did not come out.
we do have less than before as we trimmed our trees.
but so wonderful to watch. in the A.M. i like to sit with my coffee and watch the Quail and families running around.
we have got a few road runners who love to look inside the restaurant windows.
enjoy your photos

Pretty cool Diane.
I love how you captured the light coming through their feathers. Captures the magic of flight.
Their faces, however, are hideous. It's no wonder they are so reviled by mankind. The impression you get is that their skin has been removed from
their face. It's like some scene from a butcher shop.
