I thought I'd try another thread.
Please try to report your experiences while dealing with the new boarder agents and not what & where you buy stuff before/after you cross. It's really distracting to those who want to know what to expect while crossing.

Tecate: no wait, no inspection heading south yesterday, Thrs Aug 21. Just using the green/red light.

No inspection at military checkpoint southbound before Ensenada.

No inspection Police checkpoint south of Ensenada.

No inspection MIlitary checkpoint 200 yards further.

Some info that might be helpful...

I towed a trailer down the week of 8/9 and stayed in Ensenada for a few days. Counting the toll booths I have to stop now at a combined 5 toll stations and 6 inspections for going down and coming up. Heading south DHS stopped me just B4 the line at San Ysidro, made me stop, shut off the engine, and proceeded to inspect the inside of my trailer. Then as I went through the TJ crossing I was directed to Mex. secondary for the same inspection only add checking our paperwork. Coming back we were inspected by the Mex. army at the San Miguel toll and then again by the Mex. marines at the Blvd. 2000 "T" intersction at Fox Studios. I told the Marines I was just inspected by the Army at San Miguel and they just shrugged. Then the inspection at the Tecate border by DHS and then again by the Border Patrol checkpoint on Hwy. 94. From now on I keep a rolled up old rug to put on my trailer floor B4 heading down so when all the inspectors feel the need to go into my trailer they don't scuff and dirty up my trailer with their oil and dirt soaked boots.

20 minute wait.

Got secondary.(sp.)

Had an old reefer out of our trailer, tires, tools, luggage, electronics.

Border folks real nice. One younger fellow liked to use potty mouth. Seemed he didn't want to crawl into the back and dig through all of our "chite". He wanted the dog. We said, "Great! We don't want to dig through all the stuff either, as we just packed it last night." Out comes Fluffy, couple sniffs and we're outa there. 15 minutes ish total time. No hassles on 94 chk pt.

2 minute delay at El Testerazo milatary chk pt.

Tecate crossing is our favorite, but don't tell anyone.

Tijuana crossing on 8/14/09 at 6:00 a.m.

We forgot to notice the green/light/bell (preoccupied with our adventure) but continued through. At that hour they close the many lanes to just one through Secondary, but they didn't even give us a look.

Mini Trip report:

Enjoyed the views of the beautiful coastline, drove through Rosarito Beach from North to South, and continued the free road to La Fonda for breakfast. I had Enchiladas and Huevos with Papas, and my wife had Chile Verde, and of course we had Bloody Marys as well.

On to La Bocana de Santo Tomas to visit a very good friend who purchased a house from me that I built almost 15 years ago. We had a great visit while spending most of the day there and then headed back to Ensenada and took the highway over the mountains to San Felipe and on down to the South Campos to our Beach House and stayed for two wonderful nights with warm weather, warm water and cool drinks. All in all, a great mini vacation...

Sunday afternoon 1 hour wait at 4 p.m. at Mexicali East crossing north.

Crossed at Mexicali East this evening 5:45 -- green light (big truck), no wait = 2 cars in secondary - 1 Baja & 1 CA plated. Have been crossing every week for 6 weeks, yet to be stopped or inspected. 8/22/2009

San Ysidro crossing Friday 8/21 at 2pm. Green light PASE just like normal. No inspections heading south. Returning North on Sunday, Military inspection at Maneadaro, no inspection at San Miguel, no inspection at Rosarito, no inspection at US/Otay. Hour and 15 minute border line at Otay arriving at 5:45pm Sunday.

Small ejido/town just before the big grade on Mex 3 heading north. That's what the AAA map calls it. Maybe it has a different name. I don't know.

Glad to hear things seem to be returning to somewhat normal. We'll continue to hear horror stories now and then but, that comes with the territory.
The customs people will do everything they can to collect taxes without turning the zone into a logjam. They arn't stupid.

5AM on 7/25 in a caravan with 2 fully loaded trucks and a fully loaded SUV. SUV got the "revisión bell" headed into TJ from San Ysidro; but the driver chose to ignore it. No one seemed to care, no one chased us down......And let me tell you it was a LOUD bell at 5AM. I was not the driver, as I would have stopped.

Yes, things sound much better. The only horror story I heard was what started all this, and it sounds second or third hand. I feel better now.
