Help with Mexican toast

oxxo - 8-20-2009 at 04:54 PM

I will be hosting a dinner party at a local restaurant for a small group of Mexican clients/friends tomorrow evening. I need a simple toast in Spanish of maybe 12 words or less that is generic in nature. I'm hoping that there is some sort of standard toast already on the books. I will be thanking them for a job well done.

gracias

You could say: Felicidades a todos!! Gracias para el apoyo! A la vida y salud!!

This means: Greetings everyone!! Thanks for your support! To life and health!!

Don't say what Dennis said:lol: (probably someone will say don't say what Paula saidBut really, mine's not bad. Have a nice dinner!

Cross-posting-- I hadn't seen Lili's when I made my post. Hers is traditional, and perfect.:dudette:

ditto Lili's post. And how was the party?

"salud, amor, y pesetas y el tiempo para gozarlos"

In Mexico wouldn't it be:

salud, amor, y dinero y el tiempo para gozarlos

Va pa'rriba, va pa'bajo, va pal centro y va pa dentro... Salud!

It was a smashing success, thank you.

I tried the toast out on a Mexican friend prior to the event. He recommended that I change "gozarles" to "desfrutarles" and "pesetas" to "pesos" to make it more comprehensible. That seemed to work.

Thanks again.

Just a Question

I know that this is post the event.

Years ago, someone toasted a group with this, "Amor, salud, pesetas y el tiempo para emplejarlos."

Is this a correct (grammer and respect) toast, as well?
